Dubia Roaches

Blaptica dubia are one of my favorite feeder insects for ants. They're rich in protein and are very easy to breed. Sometimes, colonies can be picky about what they eat, but they always love Dubia roaches. Here, you can see my breeding setup, and the different generations of roaches. Picture 5 shows Camponotus fragilis eating a newly molted nymph.

Water Boatmen

My UV blacklight often attracts a lot of different insects. On hot summer days, water boatmen will swarm the light. They're great feeder insects for my ants, and they take them as readily as any other source of protein!

Scorpions

This is a stripe-tailed scorpion I found one night while looking for queens. Hoffmanius spinigerus are not very aggressive, and their stings are similar to bee stings in severity.
