Thank you for choosing to contribute to BAUXITE! Before you submit, please take note of the guidelines we've set. It saves us a bit of headache!
Content Information:
Here at BAUXITE, we accept any written work (or adjacent) that will fit onto a few pages of a PDF. Our editors are prolific poets, but we will earnestly review any genre of literature, so long as it adheres to our guidelines and fits the theme for the current issue.
We will not, under any circumstances, accept work that promotes hatred or bigotry, nor do we wish to work with authors who promote such. We quite enjoy our good vibes and intend to keep them.
In addition, we generally don't publish works depicting graphic material such as violence, criminal activity, or anything in that vein. Submissions containing such material will be selectively allowed on a case-by-case basis at the editing team's discretion.
All topics that fall outside of what we've stated here are fair game.
We will not publish works that feature copyrighted material or AI-generated material, though we will review ekphrastic works. No AI. No exceptions. This metal crunches; it doesn't clank.
Issue I: ALUMINUM - Theme Guidance:
Pounding hammers. Forged metal. Rebirth. Beauty. All in-between.
For our debut issue, ALUMINUM, we're looking for polished works that relate to the creation or existence of aluminum itself, from its rawest forms in the bauxite rocks to cans we drink from, and all stages in between. The work you submit doesn't have to be about the metal itself; instead, think about how it connects. If it's something far-fetched, that's fine! Explain the connection if you feel the need to.
Submissions for Issue I close on June 30th, 2026.
Submission Format:
Please only submit (1) work. We accept any creative written work under 4,000 words, including poetry and work that pushes creative boundaries, as well as visual art.
Format the subject of the e-mail as so, without quotations: "BAUXITE Submission - [Title of Work]"
Write us a cover letter.
