I aim to raise awareness about the availability of recycling collection sites and drives for household hazardous waste across our country. Residents must take full advantage of these resources and make an effort to recycle as much as possible.

The Loudoun County Household Hazardous Waste Events occur annually from March to November. This drive-through event provides residents with a convenient opportunity to dispose of hazardous waste safely. To access the event dates, Click Here
Fairfax County Drive
Fairfax County Drive
Fairfax County hosts two permanent household hazardous waste collection sites: the I-66 Transfer Station and the I-95 Landfill Complex. For operational hours, Click Here.
Prince William County Drive
Prince William County Drive
The Prince William County Household Hazardous Waste Collection and Electronics Recycling program operates during designated hours at the landfill. Residents are required to obtain a ticket from the traffic control attendant before accessing this service. For operational hours, Click Here

Before recycling a battery, make sure to place a piece of non-conductive clear tape over the terminals (the ends) to prevent any current transfer.
Most battery collection boxes don’t require this step and allow you to simply drop off batteries without taping them. However, many official recycling centers require taped terminals for safety reasons, so it’s important to do this beforehand to ensure your batteries are accepted.

As 2023 drew to a close, I actively participated in the final Hazardous Waste Recycling event, contributing to the responsible disposal of environmental hazards by recycling more than 500 batteries. Witnessing the positive impact of my efforts in accumulating this substantial quantity within a mere month was truly remarkable. I am committed to sustaining this eco-friendly initiative in the upcoming hazardous waste recycling events and beyond.
