If this Policy is translated into any language other than English, in the event of a conflict, the English language version shall govern to the fullest extent permitted by applicable laws.

Introduction

We're RUJINGCUI, operating as FutureSelf ("we" or "us"), the provider of the FutureSelf application and related services. With this privacy policy, we explain what information we collect, use, and disclose about you when you access or use FutureSelf applications, websites, and services (collectively, the "FutureSelf Service"), contact our customer service team, engage with us on social media, or otherwise interact with us.

We provide this privacy policy in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including but not limited to the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"), and the Australian Privacy Act 1988, as amended or replaced from time to time.

Please note that you are both the Account Holder and End User of a FutureSelf Service account. You can find defined terms used in this policy in the Glossary at the end of this document.

Although significant changes are rare, this policy may be amended as new features, technology, or legal requirements arise, so please check back from time to time. We'll notify you if we make a significant change and, where required, seek your consent.

Who is the data controller?

What data do we collect?

You can input, upload, or store in the FutureSelf Service any text, images, audio recordings, and other data that you choose—we refer to that information as "Content". This includes personal reflections, action items, goals, identity development information, and progress tracking. We also collect the following types of personal data:

Basic account information

To create your account, we collect personal data through:

• Google Account authentication

• Apple ID authentication

• Email and Password (if you choose this sign-up method) If you purchase a subscription to our Pro Service, we also collect payment information through Apple Pay.

Usage data

We collect and log information on how you access and use FutureSelf, for example, the act of creating an action item or updating a reflection. Usage data may be collected through cookies and similar technologies. This helps us improve our services and provide a better user experience.

Device information

We collect information about the number and type of devices you use to connect to the FutureSelf Service, as well as information about the operating systems on those devices (e.g., iOS) and the version of FutureSelf. For example, when you install, modify, or use the FutureSelf application, we may collect your device's unique hardware identifiers and other information required for the services to function properly.

In addition, we collect the following types of personal data when you use the FutureSelf Service:

How do we use your data?

We use the data we collect for the following purposes:

• To provide the FutureSelf Service: We use your data to deliver the core functionality of our service, including storing and retrieving your Content, tracking your progress, and providing visualizations.

• To improve our services: We analyze usage patterns and performance metrics to enhance the FutureSelf Service, fix bugs, and develop new features.

• To personalize your experience: We use information about your preferences and usage patterns to customize the FutureSelf Service to better suit your needs.

• To process payments: For Pro Service subscribers, we process payment information to manage your subscription.

• To communicate with you: We may send you service announcements, updates, and support messages related to your use of the FutureSelf Service.

• To ensure security: We use your data to verify your identity, protect against fraud, and maintain the security of the FutureSelf Service.

• To comply with legal obligations: We may use your data to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

How do we store your data?

Free Users

If you are using the free version of FutureSelf, your Content is stored locally on your device. This means:

• Your data remains on your physical device

• Your data is not synchronized across multiple devices

• Your data is not backed up to our cloud servers

Pro Users

If you subscribe to the Pro Service, your data is stored both locally on your device and in our cloud storage systems:

• Text data is stored in Firebase Cloud Firestore

• Images and audio recordings are stored in Amazon S3

• Your data is synchronized across all devices where you use FutureSelf with the same account

• Your data is backed up regularly to protect against loss

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data:

• All data transfers between your device and our servers use industry-standard encryption

• We use secure authentication methods to protect your account

• We regularly review and update our security practices

How do we share your data?

FutureSelf is designed as a personal tool for self-improvement and reflection. We limit sharing of your data as follows:

Service Providers

We share data with the following third-party service providers:

• Firebase (Google) for authentication, analytics, cloud storage, and push notifications

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) for image and audio storage

• Apple for payment processing

• OpenAI for AI generation and analysis features (Pro users only) These providers are contractually obligated to use your data only for providing services to us and must comply with applicable privacy laws.

Content Sharing

When you choose to share YouTube links within the app, these links become visible to the users you share with. No other Content is shared unless you explicitly choose to do so.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your data if required to comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests. We narrowly interpret all information requests, and we only disclose Content that is specifically responsive to a legal obligation.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on our website of any change in ownership or uses of your personal data.

With Your Consent

We may share your data when you direct us to do so. We will always ask for your explicit consent before sharing your data with any third party not covered by this policy.

Your rights and controls

Accessing and Exporting Your Data

You can access your Content at any time through the FutureSelf app. Pro users can export their data using the export feature within the app.

Deleting Your Data

You can delete individual Content items directly within the app. If you wish to delete your entire account, you can do so from the account settings. When you delete your account:

• All locally stored data will be removed from your device

• For Pro users, all cloud-stored data will be marked for deletion

• Your account data will be permanently deleted immediately upon account deletion.

Controlling Communications

You can manage your communication preferences through the settings in the app. You can opt out of non-essential communications while still receiving critical service announcements.

Your Legal Rights

Depending on your location, you may have specific legal rights regarding your personal data:

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, and other regions with similar laws:

• Right to access your personal data

• Right to rectification of inaccurate data

• Right to erasure of your data

• Right to restrict processing of your data

• Right to data portability

• Right to object to processing of your data

• Right to withdraw consent

For California residents:

How long do we store your data?

We store your data according to the following retention periods:

• Account data: As long as your account is active

• Content data: As long as your account is active, unless you delete specific Content items

• Usage data: Up to 26 months for analytics purposes

• Payment information: As required for tax and accounting purposes (typically 7 years)

• Communication data: Up to 2 years from your last interaction

If you delete your account, we retain your account data for 30 days before permanent deletion, to allow for recovery in case of accidental deletion.

For users who are inactive for extended periods of time (over 12 months), we may close your account to satisfy our obligations under applicable law. If that happens, we will try to notify you before taking any action.

Third-party services

The FutureSelf Service uses several third-party services:

• Firebase Authentication: For user authentication and account management

• Firebase Analytics: For app usage analysis and performance monitoring

• Firebase Cloud Firestore: For storing and synchronizing user Content (Pro users)

• Firebase Cloud Messaging: For delivering push notifications

• Amazon S3: For storing user images and audio recordings (Pro users)

• Apple Pay: For processing subscription payments

• OpenAI API: For AI generation and analysis features (Pro users)

Each of these services has its own privacy policy that governs their collection and use of data. We encourage you to review their privacy policies for more information.

Third-Party Content and Data Retention

Our app allows users to share publicly accessible YouTube links to be viewed within the app via WebView. These videos are streamed directly from YouTube and not stored on our servers. All shared links are automatically deleted 60 days after posting. We do not collect or process the video content itself.

International data transfers

As a global service, your data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country.

Specifically:

• Firebase and Google services are hosted in various global locations

• AWS S3 storage is primarily in the Asia Pacific region

• OpenAI processes data in the United States

We take appropriate safeguards to require that your personal data will remain protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy, including using Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers of personal data outside the EEA, UK, and Switzerland.

Children's privacy

The FutureSelf Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If we learn we have collected personal data from a child under 16 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 16, please contact us at batherapyapp@gmail.com.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app, via email, or by displaying a prominent notice when you next use the FutureSelf Service. Where required by law, we will obtain your consent for the updated policy.

Glossary

Account Holder: The person or entity who creates an account to use the FutureSelf Service.

End User: Any individual who uses the FutureSelf Service.
Pro Service: The paid subscription version of FutureSelf that includes additional features such as AI generation, AI analysis, and cloud backup.
FutureSelf Service: All FutureSelf applications, websites, and services provided by us.
