Third-Party Projects

The ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim is a non-profit and independent institute. It is a member of the Leibniz Association and one of Germany's leading economic research institutes. I have coordinated three scientific consultancy projects for the German Ministry of Education and Research and have been a member of a variety of project teams as part of my work at ZEW. Frequent collaboration partners in our projects have been the Fraunhofer ISI and the Stifterverband. Project Coordination

KIWI is focused on the large-scale identification of knowledge transfer channels on firm and university websites. It aims at taking stock of the usage of different knowledge transfer channels by firms and universities in Germany by employing machine learning technics and analyzing their success factors.

PHOEBUS investigates the heterogeneous effects of private universities on the performance of regional firms and regional firm foundations in Germany within a difference-in-differences design. Thus, it adds to the rare evidence on the importance of an increasing number of private universties.

INDISYS examines innovation indicators and their limitations. The heart of the project forms the organization of two expert workshops around the topic, whereas one takes the impact of COVID-19 into account. The workshops are augmented by several expert briefs covering and extending their content.

PUBMOTIVE investigates the publication activities of firms in Germany. It examines the motives of firms and their employees to publish in scientific journals, outlines the development of firm publishing during recent years, and analyses the interaction of publishing with firms' success and other IP strategies.
