If you want open ear earbuds for study with a planar magnetic driver that delivers powerful bass and a metallic build, choose BASN MTPro 14.5mm; if you need zero-audible distortion for critical listening or mixing while studying in a quiet room, choose FLARE AUDIO Studio Professional Earphones.
• BASN MTPro 14.5mm: Its biggest strength is the massive 14.5mm planar magnetic driver paired with a CNC-machined aluminum alloy body, offering a detailed sound signature with impactful bass. The trade-off is its wired nature requiring an MMCX connection and the bulkier profile compared to ultra-minimalist designs. This pick is for musicians, audiophiles, and students who prioritize rich tonal balance and durability over portability.
• FLARE AUDIO Studio Professional Earphones: Its standout feature is the patented Mirror Image Sound Technology and 3D-printed housing designed specifically to eliminate internal resonance for pristine clarity. The trade-off is the lack of a detachable cable system and the reliance on passive noise cancellation rather than active isolation. This pick is for audio engineers, producers, and students who need absolute accuracy and subtle nuance retrieval above all else.
The BASN MTPro 14.5mm is engineered as a professional in-ear monitor (IEM) that bridges the gap between live performance monitoring and high-fidelity casual listening. At the heart of this device is a 14.5mm planar diaphragm driver equipped with a double-sided magnetic array. This specific configuration allows the diaphragm to move with incredible speed, translating into a highly detailed sound profile that retains an impactful bass response without muddying the midrange. For a student using these for study sessions, this means you get a rich, immersive soundscape that can keep you engaged during long hours of focus, preventing the fatigue often associated with flatter, less dynamic drivers.
The physical construction of the MTPro is equally distinct. The earbuds are crafted from high-quality aluminum alloy using a high-precision CNC process involving milling, cutting, and reshaping. This results in a finely textured, natural metal finish that feels substantial and premium in the hand. The design features a unique color contrast between the base and face plate, making it visually striking. Because these are in-ear monitors designed for sound isolation, the ergonomic shape combined with the included silicone and memory foam eartips ensures a superb fit that cuts down external noises effectively. This makes them ideal for anyone needing to block out a noisy dorm or library environment to concentrate.

Connectivity and customization are handled through a detachable MMCX connector system. The package includes two distinct cables: a silver-grey 4-core single crystal copper (OCC) cable with coaxial and Litz shielding for pure audio fidelity, and a brown cable featuring an inline microphone for phone calls and volume control. The 4-core OCC construction is designed to minimize signal loss and improve the overall sound quality of the planar driver. With twelve pairs of replacement eartips included, along with a durable storage case and cleaning tools, the MTPro is built for longevity and adaptability. If you are a musician, drummer, or singer looking for a reliable pair of headphones that offer tonal perfection, or a student who wants a robust, bass-forward experience for deep work, this is the device to consider.
The FLARE AUDIO Studio Professional Earphones take a radically different approach to audio engineering, prioritizing acoustic purity and the removal of artificial coloration. These earphones are made entirely in England using advanced 3D printing technology, which allows for ultra-accurate sound delivery and a perfect acoustic fit that standard injection molding cannot achieve. The enclosure material is plastic, but the precision of the 3D print creates a housing that works in tandem with the Balanced Armature Driver to strip away resonance. For a student seeking the best bone conduction headphones for study is not quite the right comparison here, but for someone needing the best possible reference monitor for focused study or music production, the Flare Studio offers an unmatched level of transparency.
The core innovation here is the "Mirror Image Sound Technology." This patented design eliminates internal ear resonance, revealing detail, depth, and clarity across all frequencies that other earphones simply mask. The goal is zero audible distortion, ensuring that what you hear is true-to-source audio. This makes them perfect for critical listening, mixing, producing, and mastering, but equally valuable for a student trying to dissect complex lectures or study materials where every word matters. The Balanced Armature Driver type provides precise bass and crystal-clear highs, delivering a sound signature that is neutral and uncolored. You will hear subtle nuances in recordings or speech that might be lost in more consumer-oriented gear.
Unlike many competitors, the Flare Studio relies on Passive Noise Cancellation rather than active electronics. The combination of the 3D-printed shell and the inclusion of three sizes of silicone tips (Small, Medium, Large) creates a seal that naturally blocks out ambient noise. While they do not have a detachable cable system like the BASN, they come with a dedicated hardcase for protection. The design is sleek, finished in Graphite, and intended for professionals and enthusiasts who demand the ability to hear subtle details others miss. If your study routine involves analyzing complex audio tracks, editing video, or simply requires an environment where nothing distracts you from the raw essence of the content, the Flare Studio is built for you.

In my opinion, if I were buying a pair of headphones specifically for study to help me maintain focus and immersion, I would choose the BASN MTPro 14.5mm. The reason is simple: the combination of the large planar magnetic driver and the heavy-duty aluminum build creates a sound profile that is engaging enough to keep my mind sharp, yet isolated enough to shut out distractions. The memory foam tips and the option to use a high-quality shielded cable make it a practical tool for long periods of concentration. However, if your primary goal is technical analysis or you are working in an industry where absolute neutrality is non-negotiable, the FLARE AUDIO Studio Professional Earphones remain the superior choice. But for general academic rigor and a satisfying listening experience, the MTPro hits the sweet spot.
Both models offer excellent passive noise isolation, but the BASN MTPro 14.5mm includes memory foam eartips which typically provide a tighter seal and better blocking of external sounds than the standard silicone tips included with the Flare Studio.
The BASN MTPro has an impedance of 32 ohms and a sensitivity of 102 dB, meaning it is relatively easy to drive and should work well directly from most modern smartphones or laptops without needing a dedicated external amplifier.
The BASN MTPro uses a planar magnetic driver known for a detailed sound with impactful bass, while the FLARE AUDIO Studio Professional Earphones use Balanced Armature drivers with Mirror Image Sound Technology to deliver a flat, distortion-free, and highly detailed response.
No, the FLARE AUDIO Studio Professional Earphones feature a fixed cable design and do not support detachable MMCX connectors, unlike the BASN MTPro which comes with a detachable cable system for easy replacement or upgrades.
