If you want a wired, professional-grade in-ear monitor with exceptional isolation for musicians and audiophiles who prioritize sound fidelity over wireless convenience, choose BASN Bsinger BC100; if you need a lightweight, wireless over-ear headphone with active noise cancellation and all-day battery life for commuting or working from home, choose SONY WH-CH720N.
These two devices live in completely different universes of audio technology. One is a tool designed for the stage and studio, while the other is a daily driver built for the modern commuter. The choice isn't about which one sounds "better" in a vacuum, but which one solves your specific problem. If you have a big head, the physical design differences between an in-ear monitor and a circumaural headphone become the deciding factor in your comfort level.
• BASN Bsinger BC100: Offers pro-level sound isolation (up to 30 dB) and detailed frequency response with dual dynamic drivers, but requires a wired connection and careful fit management with ear tips. Best for musicians, singers, and audiophiles who want a neutral, reference-quality sound without digital processing.
• SONY WH-CH720N: Delivers seamless wireless freedom with 35-hour battery life, active noise cancellation, and multipoint Bluetooth connectivity, but lacks the raw, uncolored fidelity of a dedicated in-ear monitor. Best for travelers, remote workers, and casual listeners who value convenience and ambient control.
• Who picks BASN: Users seeking a secure, custom-like fit for long listening sessions where wire management is not an issue.
• Who picks SONY: Users needing a versatile, hands-free device that adapts to changing environments with minimal effort.
The BASN Bsinger BC100 is not a typical consumer headphone; it is a personal monitor evolved from professional stage technology. This distinction matters because its entire design philosophy revolves around accuracy and isolation rather than passive comfort features like plush padding or wireless streaming. If you are a musician, singer, or someone who listens to complex orchestral pieces, this unit offers a tuned vent and dual dynamic drivers that deliver a warmer, richer low-frequency response while keeping vocals and instruments remarkably natural. The frequency range spans from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, ensuring you hear every nuance without the coloration often introduced by digital enhancement engines.

For those with larger head sizes or sensitive ears, the form factor is critical. Unlike over-ear headphones that clamp down on the skull, the BC100 utilizes a secure over-the-ear configuration with flexible memory wire earhooks. This design distributes weight differently, relying on a rest in the ear canal rather than pressure on the outer head. The package includes three sizes of silicon sleeves and both single and double-layer options, allowing you to dial in a perfect seal. A good seal is non-negotiable here; it blocks up to 30 dB of ambient noise passively, meaning you don't need batteries to drown out the world. However, this requires patience during setup. You must find the right tip size to optimize the noise canceling effect, and the ergonomic nose piece is designed to keep the earbud stable during movement.
You should buy this if you prioritize sound quality above all else and don't mind being tethered to a source via the detachable MMCX cable. The gold-plated connector allows for 360-degree rotation, which helps manage the wire so it doesn't get tangled or pull against your ear. It is also ideal for situations where battery anxiety is a distraction, as the wired connection means you never run out of power mid-song. However, if you need to take calls frequently without holding a phone, or if you want to walk around your house without a cord trailing behind you, this product will feel restrictive. The lack of a built-in microphone means your focus remains strictly on the music, making it a specialized tool rather than a general-purpose companion.
The SONY WH-CH720N represents the pinnacle of modern convenience for everyday listening. As Sony's lightest wireless noise-canceling headphone ever, it weighs just 192 grams, making it nearly imperceptible on the head during extended wear. This is a massive advantage for anyone with a big head, as the slimmer, restructured headband creates more space around the ears, preventing the claustrophobic feeling that heavier models can cause. The design prioritizes "all-day comfort," using a lightweight build that won't leave your ears sore after hours of use. Whether you are working from home, watching movies, or traveling, the goal here is to immerse yourself in the audio without feeling the weight of the device.
Its real superpower lies in its intelligence and connectivity. With Dual Noise Sensor technology and the Integrated Processor V1, it actively cancels out background chatter, traffic, and office hums, offering a level of silence that passive isolation cannot match. Beyond noise cancellation, it features Adaptive Sound Control, which automatically adjusts your volume and noise settings based on your location and behavior. If you step outside, it might let in some traffic noise; if you sit in a quiet room, it maximizes isolation. The inclusion of multipoint Bluetooth connection is a game-changer for multitaskers. You can pair this device with two Bluetooth sources simultaneously, switching instantly between your laptop and smartphone with a touch. This makes it the ultimate choice for remote work or managing notifications while listening to music.
Battery life is another area where this model dominates the comparison. You get up to 35 hours of continuous playback, which is sufficient for weeks of commuting without charging. The quick-charge feature is equally impressive, providing up to 60 minutes of playtime from just a 3-minute charge. For users who forget to charge their devices regularly, this peace of mind is invaluable. The Precise Voice Pickup Technology ensures that hands-free calls are crystal clear, utilizing beamforming microphones to isolate your voice from the environment. While the sound quality is superb and balanced thanks to Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE), it is tuned for enjoyment rather than clinical neutrality. It boosts compressed music files to make them sound closer to the artist's intent, creating a rich experience for pop, rock, and electronic genres.

• Best for multi-device switching → SONY WH-CH720N: Multipoint connection lets you toggle between a computer and phone instantly, a feature the BASN cannot offer.
• Best for professional monitoring → BASN Bsinger BC100: The neutral tuning and dual dynamic drivers provide a reference-quality sound signature preferred by audio engineers and performers.
• Best for heavy usage comfort → SONY WH-CH720N: The 192g weight and open-fit design reduce fatigue for large heads better than the in-ear pressure of the BASN.
• Best for customization → BASN Bsinger BC100: The detachable MMCX cable allows you to upgrade wires later, giving you control over the audio chain that the Sony does not permit.
I would personally choose the SONY WH-CH720N for my daily life, especially because I have a big head and need a headphone that feels invisible while I work. The combination of active noise cancellation, multipoint connectivity, and 35-hour battery life makes it a far more practical tool for the modern world. It handles the chaos of commuting and the demands of remote work effortlessly. However, if you are a musician or an audiophile who needs absolute, uncolored fidelity and doesn't mind being wired, the BASN Bsinger BC100 is the only logical choice. It is a specialist's instrument, whereas the Sony is a master of everything else. For the average user looking for the best wireless headphones for a big head, the Sony wins on versatility and comfort.
