Troops exist because of parents. Parents can be leaders, drivers, treasurers, field trip chaperones, arts and craft specialists, camping gurus, communications coordinators, keepers of the troop scrapbook, career experts, or anything you can imagine. Each one plays a vital role in making the Girl Scout experience exciting, fun, and educational for your children.
There are three steps for a parent:
Volunteer to help your troop leader or become a leader yourself.
Register as an Adult Girl Scout Volunteer - yes, Dads can become Adult Girl Scouts too.
Complete the online Volunteer Application and background screening through GSHNJ.
You have what it takes to be a Girl Scout Volunteer!
Think back to when you were a kid. Remember the people who listened to you, inspired you, and supported you through it all? It’s your turn to be one of those people for a new generation.
When you volunteer with Girl Scouts, you provide a safe space for kids to discover themselves. You help them try new things, build each other up, and make unforgettable memories through fun, laughter, and connection.
You can be a role model and mentor just by being yourself! You don’t need any special leadership training to get involved—just a passion for helping others. If you supply the enthusiasm, the Girl Scouts Heart of NJ will supply the training to help you succeed.
