What is FIRST FTC?
The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is an international robotics competition for students in grades 7–12. Teams design, build, and program robots to compete in an alliance-based, head-to-head game that changes every season. It emphasizes STEM skills, real-world engineering, and the core values of "Gracious Professionalism"
Outreach & Impact
Our teams love to collaborate with local businesses and schools to promote FIRST and the love and fun of robotics, this past year we worked with the BASIS Goodyear Boosters, Scholastic Bookfair, and the Goodyear Recreation center and Parks This allowed our team to set up booths to sell personalized Matcha Drinks and Pastries at our Pop up quantum cafe, and other various pop-ups during fall festival for our YSF (Youth For Stem) Programs
Inspiring the community through technology and fun
K-12 Foundational Classes
Our school offers courses for students at our school to introduce children and the youth to robotics as early as 4thgrade, learning the foundations of creativity and fostering the curiosity and love for robotics, this continues on until senior year where robotics skills are carefully cultivated
STEM Summer RoboCamp
A STEM focused Summer that is hands-on and engaging for students to learn more about the FIRST experience to get a feel for the joining the robotics teams in the future. Students get to build their own robots and participate in teams and have the opportunity to showcase what they have learned
Project: Sustain
During school events, the robotics club with the partnership of student government is able to promote and sustain the club at our school, this type of outreach allowed our school to expand our FTC team by 13 members in the last year, and we may offer scholarship positions on the teams for interested candidates with a passion for robotics
Youth For STEM
At our school’s Fall Festival and Spring Fling, we set up a booth to sell 3D trinkets and let attendees use custom catapults for launch games, and also drive and play with our Competition bots, to give aspiring students a hands-on experience with robotics! We also showcased our FTC bot to promote our team and attract younger people and students to STEM.
