A New Era for KSU Baseball — and the Frankfort Community
At Kentucky State University, we believe that excellence begins with opportunity, and opportunity starts with a safe, modern, and competitive environment for our student-athletes. The KSU Baseball program is committed to raising the bar, providing our players with the facilities they deserve. But this project isn’t just for the KSU baseball team, it’s about building something bigger for KSU, Frankfort, and the baseball community.
In March 2023, a violent windstorm destroyed our baseball field, rendering it unplayable. Since that moment, we’ve worked closely with the University and state partners to design a comprehensive $3.52 million renovation plan. This vision goes far beyond rebuilding, it reimagines what’s possible for our program and our city.
More Than a Field — A Community Asset
This new facility will not only benefit Kentucky State student-athletes, but will also serve as a valuable resource for the City of Frankfort. With an upgraded NCAA-compliant baseball complex:
Frankfort will be able to host regional tournaments, showcases, and events, bringing in tourism dollars, hotel stays, and increased local revenue.
KSU athletic department will gain a new revenue stream through hosting events, youth leagues, and summer showcases.
We are exploring a partnership with Frankfort High School, allowing them to share the field and call it their home. This collaboration would give FHS students access to a high-quality facility, while strengthening community bonds through shared pride.
This facility becomes a hub of activity, development, and opportunity, not only for the Thorobreds, but for the City of Frankfort as a whole.
