The rein back can be asked on the rail, in the line up or in a pattern if asked. An individual pattern may be asked for all entries in the class, it will be described in the class lineup and not pre-posted. The pattern can include all gaits listed and a rein back. Any questions must be asked before the first exhibitor begins.
Carriage Driving Working Pleasure
This class is judged primarily on the “working” performance of the equine to be shown both ways of the ring at a walk, slow trot, working trot, strong trot, halt and stand quietly. Rein back will be asked in the lineup. Looking for a pleasure to drive, calm, confident and obedient at all gaits. Horse’s performance is 70%, Condition & Fit of Harness and Carriage is 20%, Turnout of driver & carriage is 10%. The judge will walk the lineup and visually inspect the safety & fit of the harness, bitting and cart and ask for a rein back.
Carriage Driving Timed Cones
(The width of cart wheels will be measured to set the cones off of the widest one)
This is a timed event driven through pairs of numbered cones driven in numerical order, with time faults given for dislodging tennis balls or breaking to canter for 2 strides or more (5 seconds added for each fault). Course will be posted and handout of course, exhibitors will have access to walk the course on foot prior to the start of the class. Pairs of cones will have the red number on the right for direction to go through the obstacle. Helmets must be worn for class and whip in hand. Off-course will cause elimination in pinning but can finish the course for schooling purposes. When your number is called you have 1 minute to start.
