(Our Pre-Flight Action)
Barnstormer’s founder, Thomas, started with two passions, flying airplanes and cooking food. How could a person combine these two vastly different career fields with each other? Well, that answer didn’t come quickly...
His original intention was to fly small aircraft with the ultimate goal of becoming a career pilot flying larger aircraft. Thomas found himself pursuing this goal in places as far away as Kansas, where he obtained his commercial pilot certificate. Considering the aeronautical training he had received, how could he bring the excitement of aviation to the general public? That question was “food” for thought... (what a pun!)
In Thomas’s spare time, he has always enjoyed cooking meals in various ways. These meals ranged from burgers made on the griddle, to barbecue made in a smoker, and even pizza baked in a homemade pizza oven! So, how could this passion for tasty food be shared with others, while continuing to keep his deep rooted ties with the aviation community alive? What a question that was...
One day, our esteemed general aviation pilot and amateur chef friend was walking around a local fly-in (a social gathering for pilots similar to a car show except with planes), when the idea hit him. Why not start an aviation themed mobile burger bar that could bring these passions of aviation and high quality food together to share with the general public and other members of the aviation community! There was the idea! Well, as you can see, that idea has been brought to reality...
We hope you enjoy your experience at Barnstormer’s, the same way that we enjoy serving you. We also hope that whether it be related to aviation, food, or one of your own passions, we may spark an idea for you during your visit...
Blue Skies and Tailwinds,
Barnstormer’s Crew
P.S. For the pilots, we thought 14 CFR 91.119 should read as follows:
Except when necessary for takeoff or landing, no person may operate an aircraft below the following altitudes:
(a) Anywhere. An altitude allowing, if a pilot is feeling a craving for Barnstormer’s, is feeling hungry, or is experiencing a hunger emergency, at an appropriate altitude whereby the pilot or a bonafide crew member can read the menu at Barnstormer’s, make an appropriate to go order, and pickup said order as if to mimic picking up a tow banner.
