My name is Barbara Rose and since retiring from a career in teaching, I've been using reclaimed textiles, mainly in making bags, to give them a further life. Now, my focus is on making artwork from tiny pieces of fabric that would otherwise be thrown away. Some of my available work can be found online in my Etsy shop, BarMadeBags.
I build up my images with small fabric pieces bonded onto a backing sheet and add further details with freehand machine stitching.
Many of the subjects for my pictures are based on views near my home in Derbyshire, UK. This includes a collection called "Walks around Holymoorside" which features scenes encountered while walking from my home. Others are of iconic sights in the area such as Chesterfield's crooked spire.
