BARKHOLA COLLEGE 

About the College 

The people of Barkhola felt the need for a college to provide higher education to the people of a vast rural area of the Barkhola constituency who could not effort to admit their wards in the colleges of silchar or elsewhere. The aspirations of the rural youths went a begging for a long time. It was in this prespective that some enlightened people of Barkhola decided to start a college for degree courses in Arts leading to BA degree of Assam University. These generous people contributed their mites for a fund for starting the college. In course of time the college committee applied for permission to the Assam University and christened the name of the college as Barkhola College. All formalities for this were completed in due time and the college was establishedn in 2009 with the approval of Assam University, Silchar to propagate BA courses with the following subjects---

PHIP, PLSP, ECOP, HISP, ENGG, BNGP, BNGL, MANP, ENGL, FCES. 

In the mean time more 6 Bighas 6 kata 11 Chatak of land were acquired for the college by purchase and by donation. The then M.P. Kabindra Purkayastha also provided a sum of RS.10 lakhs from his fund to state a building for the college. with this together with local resource the present building was sat up. Teacher from the neighborhood and from Silchar have been rendering. 

Instructions to the students and over the years many indigent students of this rural area have been able to pass the BA. Degree of Assam University. Indeed this is giving a great service to the poor people of Barkhola area. We hope the college will flourish and contribute to provide degree course education to the people for times to come.
