Symposium Format: Eight rides per day, 2 lectures by Dominique Barbier, and evening lectures on Systems Biomechanics.
The symposium will begin with an evening dinner with lectures held on the rooftop of the University of Arizona's Environment and Natural Resources 2 Building. Lectures will be given by Dr. Laura Miller on Systems Biomechanics Research and Kirsten Sundquist on Uniting Systems Biomechanics and French Classical Dressage.
The symposium will start promptly at 9:00 am Saturday, Sunday, and Monday with coffee and introductory remarks. The dressage component of the symposium with Mestre Dominique Barbier will run until about 3:30 pm. We have an hour lunch break, and lunch will be brought into Al Marah on Saturday and Sunday. Please plan to bring your own lunch on Monday. Evening lectures focused on systems biomechanics of the horse and opportunities for connections to other fields will begin around 4:30 pm. The working schedule can be found here.
Dr. Miller will record each of the rides throughout the symposium to document and analyze changes in gait regularity and tempo. The results of the work will be shared with each rider.
All riders and auditors are encouraged to read Dressage for the New Age before the clinic. You may also find more information about Dominique Barbier and French Classical Dressage here.
