Barbie takes a road trip to the Kingdom of Floravia, having been invited by Floravia's princess Amelia. Barbie discovers that Amelia, whose life is rigidly controlled by her royal advisor Alfonso, wants to switch places with her for a week because the two look almost identical. Barbie agrees, and Amelia goes on to enjoy a week of freedom before her coronation. Amelia is kidnapped by her fianc Prince Johan, who uncovers the ruse and wants to force Amelia to marry him so he can rule both his country and Floravia. Barbie rescues Amelia, and they foil Johan's plot. Afterwards, Amelia is crowned, and both Barbie and Amelia agree to remain true to themselves.

The girls return to the palace. Alfonso tells Barbie that she was photographed dressed as Amelia while wearing a personalized "Barbie" necklace, so he figured out what was going on and removed the photo from the press pool. He says situations like this are why he must have control at all times. Alfonso tells Barbie she will continue to be Amelia under his watch until he finds the real princess. Barbie hands over her necklace. Barbie phones Amelia and tells her that Alfonso knows she has left. Amelia says she will be back in time for her coronation.
Rose phones Barbie and asks what Barbie is working on. Barbie can't reveal it yet, so Rose reminds her that there's a lot of pressure due to a potential sponsor. The next day, Barbie takes part in a royal horse show in Amelia's place. She performs with Morning Star, the princess' personal horse. After the horse brigade, Barbie is also scheduled to do a palace photoshoot, royal orphanage tour, a dress fitting, and more. Barbie tells Alfonso he should give Amelia more credit for managing her busy schedule and that he should listen to her more. Barbie meets Emma, a little girl, who asks for a photo. Barbie tells her they don't have to film their meeting, and they should create memories together instead.
Amelia and Barbie chat at the end of the day and talk about how eventful it was. Amelia had fun exploring Floravia and learning more about herself. Barbie interviews Amelia for her vlog, and Amelia says she feels like herself for the first time in her life. Nikki, Renee, Teresa, and Daisy go shopping, and Barbie tells Ken that she has to attend coronation practice with Johan. After Trey sees Ken talking to Barbie, he tells Ken to introduce him to the princess. Trey says he and Amelia could rule the land together if he were king of Floravia.
While Amelia is walking around Floravia, she is kidnapped and separated from Snowy. Barbie cannot contact the princess and tells Ken that she is overwhelmed by Amelia's schedule and wants to go home. Nikki, Teresa, Daisy, and Renee throw a slumber party for Barbie, but they hear scratching and thumping. They look in a wardrobe to find Snowy and discover that it contains a passageway leading to Amelia's secret hangout room. While hiding in the wardrobe, they hear Reggie and another guard take Snowy, realizing Amelia is in trouble.
Barbie and her friends make a plan to split up and look for the princess. Barbie's friends plan to use scooters to search the city, and Barbie goes to find Alfonso. She gets interrupted by a phone call from Rose. Rose shows Barbie an edited version of her interview with Amelia, where their words have been taken out of context to make them look shallow. Rose says the video will make Barbie famous, but Barbie ends her deal with Rose, saying she is going to be herself and make her own decisions.

i LOVED all of them ken was superadroble and there are some very cute interactions with barbie , my fave was prob princess amelia she is very much a modern version annalise but adds something new to the table i could really relate to her and her journey through the movie , barbie also got a great arc through the movie i also could relate to
SONGS : the soundtrack is great my favorites were this is my moment and im not a picture perfect girl the song this is my moment really resonated with me and made me nearly cry and that never happend with any other barbie movie i watched the song writers and singers gave it their all and i apreaciate it very much
THE MERCH : every barbie movie should have great merch and some of the newer barbie movies like video game her had terrible merch but with this new movie even with mattels shortcommings i can confirm the merch is good and has great quality nothing on the dolls is printed and molded on every doll has accessorize and the dresses are layerd and the patterns follow to the back the only negatives are that there isnt much articulation if there was so the line would be perfect for me , and that we didnt got singing dolls is a real shame or a princess amelia doll but im pretty impressed with the merch the movies always should have good merch since thats the reason why they are made
NEGATIVES : the villian wasnt as strong as perminger for example and lacked a bit for me and some of barbies friends were a bit useless for the overall plot and story and wished the movie didnt focus that much on some of them
Princess Amelia explains to Barbie that she orchestrated the whole student exchange field trip in order to arrange a meeting between the two. She wastes no time suggesting to Barbie that the two switch places, so Princess Amelia can experience life without being in the public eye, and Barbie can experience life as a princess.
The rest of the plot seems pretty bland, though -it reminds me a bit of how Princess Annaliese goes missing in The Princess and the Pauper (2004) and Erica has to step in and pretend to be the princess in time for her wedding.
Part 3 of me and my sister watching barbie movies. She didn't bring any DVDs this week so we had to resort to netflix and watch something neither of us had seen before. Somehow not our worst decision. I would have much rather watched something I'm a little bit nostalgic for like the early 2000's barbie films but alas we did not have them at our disposal so we put ourselves through this horrendous pile of shit.
Princess Barbie is back with a modern new makeover. Barbie Princess Adventure premiered on Netflix today, and it made me miss the old Barbie more than ever. This musical princess adventure played like an extended episode of the Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures series rather than a remake of the fantastic Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper movie from 2004. If anything, it was an animated version of Netflix's The Princess Switch from 2018 with songs inspired by Disney's 2006 High School Musical. It was more modern than Barbie's 2012 princess doppleganger remake, The Princess and the Popstar, speaking to a new generation of girls who grew up surrounded by technology and social media. I understand that I am far from the target age group for this movie, but I feel like movies set in modern times will inevitably feel dated over time, whereas those set in an era long past like The Princess and the Pauper come off as classic and timeless.
This movie is a musical, but not the same kind as The Princess and the Pauper. Most of the songs have very little relevance to the plot. They are used more as an excuse for ensemble dance and dress-up montages than to move the story along. The most relevant song is when Princess Amelia sings "(Not) a Picture Perfect Girl," which is vaguely reminiscent of "Free" from The Princess and the Pauper with a modern pop feel to it. The songs in this took me out of the story more than anything else. The audio quality takes a drastic shift every time someone starts singing, and the voices sound heavily autotuned. It has a more modern feel than the Barbie movies of old but a lot less heart. Even the costumes the royal characters wear look uncharacteristically modern. Would a real princess really wear a tank top and skirt to her coronation ceremony, even in modern times? The only thing I liked about the costumes in the movie is that they ramped up the reflection effects on the textures, making the decorative glitter accents on everyone's t-shirts and skirts sparkle and shimmer brilliantly.
Overall, Barbie Princess Adventure is nothing more than a glorified episode of Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures created solely for the purpose of selling new dolls. I think we're going to have to come to terms with the fact that the Barbie movies as we once knew them ended with Barbie Dolphin Magic in 2017. I appreciate the attempt to criticize social media culture and how we can miss out on the world around us if we don't put our phones away. However, I don't think taking pictures of things we want to remember and sharing them with our friends is such a bad thing. If Amelia's reason for not wanting to be in the spotlight anymore was that she did something that was heavily criticized by the media, it would have made her character a lot more interesting and Barbie's by proxy for needing to cover it up. The fact that the first Barbie princess story in years was one that had already been done multiple times just goes to show that creativity in Hollywood is dead, even for a character who teaches us that we can be anything. 006ab0faaa
