HAZARD & RISK ASSESSMENT

a) Inventory of hazards in the barangay

➤ The potential hazard in the barangay is the flood and typhoon. In the likelihood of occurrence measurement of typhoon rare event every one hundred to two hundred years while the flood is frequent every two to three years.

➤ The degree impact of flood as well as the typhoon is moderate direct impacts in terms of number of fatalities, injures and value of property damage are expected given the extend of exposure and current sensitivities of the system.

➤ Short to medium term indirect impacts will also be experienced which may affect development process. Medium to low cost needed to return to pre-impact levels within to medium term period.

➤ While on the degree of adaptive capacity in flood is the same also on the degree of adaptive capacity on typhoon was moderate addressing the impacts will require significant cost but still within the capacity of system to adapt potential impacts.

➤ It can accommodate within its resources the cost of adapting and mitigating impacts.
