From old dressers, tarnished mirrors, overgrown gardens to pilling quilts in a grand abandoned mansion, my thesis collection, Well Worn Details, draws inspiration from the enduring beauty found in remnants of once well kept objects and places. This collection explores the relationship between decay and craft, capturing the beauty of handwork, and multidisciplinary techniques from embroidery, slip casting, 3D printing, screen printing and more to create a trompe-l'œil effect that mimics the tattered items in disrepair that are have been long forgotten. Each garment reflects an item or place influenced by the passage of time and its unavoidable effects, evoking a sense of nostalgia while blending traditional artistry with new techniques, showing how beauty persists even in disrepair.
