Privacy Policy for Bantrr – AI Reply Assistant

1. INTRODUCTION

Bantrr ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps 

users generate AI-powered replies on Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and Reddit. This Privacy 

Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding 

your data.

2. DATA WE COLLECT

2.1 Account Information

- Email address: Collected when you log in with your license key. Stored locally 

  on your device to display your account details in the extension popup.

- License key: Used to authenticate your account with the Bantrr backend. Stored 

  locally on your device using Chrome's storage API.

- Subscription information: Your subscription tier and remaining credits are stored 

  locally to display usage information in the popup.

2.2 Page Content

- When you use the extension to generate a reply, the text content of the social 

  media post you are replying to is sent to our backend server solely for the 

  purpose of generating a contextual AI reply. This content is not stored, logged, 

  or used for any other purpose.

2.3 User Preferences

- Your platform settings (which platforms have the extension enabled) and tone 

  preferences are stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. 

  These are never transmitted to our servers.

3. DATA WE DO NOT COLLECT

We do not collect:

- Browsing history

- Keystrokes or mouse activity

- Personal communications (emails, messages, chats)

- Health or financial information

- Precise or approximate location

- Any data from websites other than Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and Reddit

4. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

- License key and email: Used only to authenticate your account and display 

  account information in the extension popup.

- Post content: Sent to our backend API solely to generate a relevant AI reply. 

  It is processed in real time and not retained after the reply is generated.

- Tone profiles: Synced between your device and our backend to keep your custom 

  tones available across sessions. These are linked to your license key only.

5. DATA SHARING

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal data with third parties 

for marketing or any other purposes.

Post content sent to our backend is processed by OpenAI's API to generate replies. 

This is governed by OpenAI's privacy policy (openai.com/privacy). No personally 

identifiable information is included in requests sent to OpenAI.

6. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY

- All account data (license key, email, preferences) is stored locally on your 

  device using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local). It never 

  leaves your device except when making authenticated API requests to the Bantrr 

  backend.

- Data in transit is protected using HTTPS/TLS encryption.

- We do not operate databases containing your browsing activity or social media 

  content.

7. DATA RETENTION

- Local data (license key, preferences) is retained on your device until you log 

  out or uninstall the extension.

- Post content sent for reply generation is not stored on our servers after the 

  reply is returned.

- If you request account deletion, all data associated with your license key is 

  permanently removed from our systems.

8. YOUR RIGHTS

You have the right to:

- Access the data associated with your account by contacting us.

- Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us.

- Opt out at any time by logging out of the extension or uninstalling it.

- Withdraw consent by uninstalling the extension, which removes all locally 

  stored data.

9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Bantrr is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not 

knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us 

with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected 

by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use 

of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
