Ban This Book Fest is a nonprofit festival in the Detroit area dedicated to amplifying voices marginalized by censorship and book banning. Our goal is to make attendance accessible to as many people as possible.

Jessica Parij
Jessica Parij
Jess (she/her) is a former public library director and current owner of Sprinkles Studios and The Bearcub Book Den, where she creates snarky stickers and bookish gifts with a library twist. Over the past 15 years, she has organized or led hundreds of library programs (from very big to very small) and conferences. Jess is disabled and can't work in libraries anymore, so she uses her platform to support libraries, uplift marginalized voices, and fight book bans. She lives in Michigan with her husband, their Newfoundland named Twyla, and their four very sassy cats. Jess loves to read romcoms, thrillers, and history nonfiction books.
Killian Weston

Killian (she/they) is a public librarian, high school color guard director, and sporadic content creator in book and gaming spaces. They believe in the power of storytelling and stories (and representation within them) across a variety of mediums and are a champion of access to information. In her free time, Killian enjoys writing, playing vigeo games and ttrpgs, and is very much a mood reader. They live in Michigan with two chaotic orange cats named Kaz and Jesper.

Meghan (she/her) is a former elementary educator who currently works for an automobile mirror company while further pursuing her writing career. She is a romance author writing flutter-worthy love stories in various romance sub-genres. Meghan works diligently to make her platforms a safe place for all, loves to support marginalized authors and inclusive, diverse stories, is an avid supporter of libraries and charities, and is ready to fight book bans with her bare hands (there was that one boxing class that gave her this false confidence). When she's not writing, she's reading—mainly romance novels, to be exact—and watching movies. She lives in Michigan with her super cool standard poodle that proudly sports a neon-orange mohawk, named Finnick.
