This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains how Banpab (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use the Banpab application (“App”)—a lightweight simulated AI video chat service. By accessing or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the practices described in this Policy. We strictly adhere to data protection principles to safeguard your privacy, especially given the App’s focus on local data storage and 18+ user eligibility.
1. Scope of This Policy
This Policy applies to all information you provide or generate while using the App, including data stored locally on your device and any minimal information transmitted to our servers (as outlined below). It does not apply to third-party services or websites linked to the App (if any), which have their own privacy policies.
2. Information We Collect
We prioritize minimal data collection to protect your privacy. The information we collect falls into two categories: (1) Data Stored Exclusively on Your Device; and (2) Minimal Non-Identifiable Data Transmitted to Our Servers.
2.1 Data Stored Exclusively on Your Device
No part of the following data is transmitted to our servers—all remains on your device unless you choose to delete it (e.g., by uninstalling the App or clearing App data):
Account-Related Data: If you create an App account (optional), this includes your chosen username (no real-name requirement) and password (encrypted locally).
AI Character Data: Details of the custom AI characters you create, such as avatar images (uploaded by you), character preferences (e.g., communication style), and saved AI settings.
Chat History: Full records of your voice and text interactions with AI characters, including transcriptions from Speech-to-Text (STT) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) processes.
Local Usage Preferences: App-specific settings you configure (e.g., notification preferences, chat interface layout, language selection).
2.2 Minimal Non-Identifiable Data Transmitted to Our Servers
We only collect non-identifiable data (data that cannot be used to identify you individually) to improve App performance, fix issues, and enhance user experience. This includes:
App Performance Data: Information about how the App operates on your device, such as crash reports (excluding personal data), load times, and error logs (e.g., “TTS feature failed to load” without identifying details).
Aggregated Usage Statistics: Anonymous, aggregated data about App usage patterns (e.g., “X% of users use the workplace simulation feature” or “Average chat session duration is Y minutes”). This data is never linked to your personal identity.
Payment-Related Non-Identifiable Data: If you purchase in-app tokens, we receive confirmation of the transaction (e.g., “Token purchase completed”) from our third-party payment processor, but we do not collect or store your payment details (e.g., credit card numbers, bank information)—these are handled exclusively by the payment processor (e.g., Apple Pay, Google Pay) in compliance with financial security standards.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information only for specific, privacy-focused purposes:
3.1 For App Functionality
To enable core App features: e.g., storing your AI characters and chat history locally so you can access them anytime; processing voice interactions via STT/TTS within the App.
To manage your account (if applicable): e.g., authenticating your username and password for App access.
3.2 To Improve the App
To fix technical issues: Using non-identifiable crash reports and error logs to resolve bugs (e.g., fixing a TTS glitch that affects some devices).
To enhance user experience: Analyzing aggregated usage statistics to prioritize feature updates (e.g., expanding the workplace simulation tools if they are popular) or optimize App performance (e.g., reducing load times).
3.3 To Comply with Legal Obligations
We may use or disclose non-identifiable data if required by law (e.g., responding to a valid court order), but we will never disclose locally stored personal data (e.g., chat history, AI character data) unless compelled by a legally binding request—and only to the extent necessary.
4. How We Protect Your Information
We implement technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect both locally stored data and non-identifiable data transmitted to our servers:
4.1 Protection for Locally Stored Data
Local Encryption: Account passwords and sensitive local data (e.g., chat history) are encrypted using industry-standard encryption protocols (e.g., AES-256) to prevent unauthorized access if your device is lost or stolen.
User Control: You have full control over locally stored data—you can delete individual chat records, AI characters, or all App data directly through the App’s settings.
4.2 Protection for Transmitted & Server-Stored Data
Secure Transmission: Non-identifiable data sent to our servers is transmitted via HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure), which encrypts data in transit to prevent interception.
Server Security: Our servers are hosted by reputable providers with robust security measures (e.g., firewalls, regular security audits, access controls limited to authorized staff only).
Data Retention for Server-Stored Data: Non-identifiable performance and usage data is retained for up to 12 months, after which it is either anonymized (for long-term aggregated analysis) or securely deleted.
5. Your Privacy Rights
As a user, you have the following rights regarding your information, consistent with applicable data protection laws:
5.1 Right to Access & Review
You can access all locally stored data (e.g., chat history, AI character settings) directly through the App’s settings menu at any time.
5.2 Right to Correct or Delete
Correct Data: You can edit AI character details, account usernames, or local preferences through the App.
Delete Data: You can delete individual chat records, specific AI characters, or all App data (via “Clear App Data” in your device settings or the App’s own data management tool). Uninstalling the App will also delete all locally stored App data.
5.3 Right to Opt Out of Non-Identifiable Data Collection
You can disable the collection of non-identifiable performance and usage data by turning off “App Analytics” in the App’s settings. Note that this may limit our ability to fix bugs or improve the App for you.
5.4 Right to Withdraw Consent
You can withdraw your consent to this Policy at any time by stopping use of the App and deleting all App data. However, prior to withdrawal, any data collected in compliance with this Policy will have been used as outlined.
6. Third-Party Service Providers
We may work with trusted third-party providers to support App functionality, but these providers do not have access to your personal data:
Payment Processors: Third-party payment services (e.g., Apple Pay, Google Pay) handle token purchases. They collect your payment details to process transactions but do not share this information with us.
Analytics Tools: We use anonymized analytics tools (e.g., Firebase Analytics) to collect non-identifiable usage data. These tools are configured to exclude any personal information and only provide aggregated insights.
We require all third-party providers to comply with strict privacy standards and not use your information for any purpose outside of supporting the App.
7. Age Restriction (18+)
The App is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect any information from minors under 18. If we learn that a minor has used the App, we will take steps to ensure any locally stored data related to that minor is deleted (if reported by a parent or guardian via our contact email) and restrict access to the App.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy periodically to reflect changes in App functionality, legal requirements, or privacy practices. When we make changes:
We will notify you via an in-app pop-up message and/or an email to the contact address associated with your account (if you have one) at least 7 days before the updated Policy takes effect.
The “Effective Date” at the top of this Policy will be revised to reflect the new effective date.
Your continued use of the App after the updated Policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes. We encourage you to review this Policy regularly.
