First Award in Horticulture.
Through the BTEC First Awards, learners investigate a selection of specialist disciplines in art and design to help them decide on the best specialist area for them, such as;
Understanding the Basic Principles of Plant Science.
Understanding the Basic Principles of Soil Science.
Setting Out from a Plan.
Establish and Maintain Plants Outdoors.
Participate in Horticultural Crop Production Outdoors.
Undertake Nursery Stock Production.
Participate in Protected Horticultural Plant Production.
Maintain Winter and Summer Sports Turf Surfaces.
Participate in Propagation Techniques.

Design Crafts.
Fashion and Textiles.
Photography.
Product Design.
Visual Arts.
Visual Communication.
As well as the BTEC qualifications, we intend to run the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme as well as other land based activities such as Bee Keeping, Bush Craft and Taste Ed.
Along side the formal and semi formal curriculum we, as a college, will be able to offer and support students in work placements and possible apprenticeships.
