This Privacy Policy governs the data processing practices of BankSnap ("App," "Company," "we," "us," or "our"). It explains how and why we collect, store, use, and share your information when you use the application. Please carefully read this policy to understand your rights and choices regarding your privacy. If you do not agree with our practices, please refrain from using our Services. If you have any concerns or inquiries, please reach out to us at banknoteIdentifying.support@gmail.com.
We've summarized the key points of our privacy practices for your convenience:
No Account Required: BankSnap does not require you to create an account or log in. We do not require your name, email address, phone number, or account credentials to use the App.
BankSnap Photos: When you use the scan feature, you may provide a photo of a banknote by taking a picture with your camera or selecting an image from your device's gallery.
Third-Party AI Processing: To identify and analyze banknotes, the image you submit is transmitted to a third-party AI service. This processing is necessary to generate the banknote identification results.
Local Storage: Your scanned banknote images, scan history, identification results, and related collection data are stored locally on your device using the App's local database. We do not maintain your scan history or scanned images on our own servers.
Advertising: The App may display advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP address, and usage or advertising interaction information in accordance with Google's privacy practices.
Analytics: The App may use Firebase Analytics to collect aggregated usage, device, performance, and diagnostic information to help us understand how the App is used and improve its reliability.
Subscriptions: Premium subscriptions are processed through Google Play Billing. We do not collect or store your credit card number or other raw payment information.
Your Privacy Rights: Depending on your location (e.g., EU, UK, Canada, California), you may have rights regarding your personal information, including rights to access, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing.
BankSnap does not require account registration or login.
When you use certain features of the App, you may voluntarily provide the following information:
Photos for Identification: When using the scanning feature, you provide photos of the front and back of the currency (captured via the camera or selected from your photo library) for identification purposes.
We do not require and do not collect: your name, email address, phone number, or any account registration information, as the App does not require login or account creation.
Through Firebase Analytics, we automatically collect:
Device Attributes: Device model, operating system version, language settings, and general region/country (derived from IP address).
Usage & Diagnostic Logs: App usage metrics (such as feature usage and session duration), performance data, and crash/error reports.
Location Data: Approximate location (such as country or city) derived from your IP address.
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may automatically collect device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID), IP address, and interaction data with ads to serve relevant advertising and measure ad performance. This data is processed according to Google's own privacy policy, available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
If you purchase a Premium subscription, the transaction is processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive, collect, or store your credit card number or other raw payment details. Google may share limited transaction information (such as subscription status) with us to unlock Premium features in the App.
We process information to:
BankSnap: Send the photo you provide to our third-party AI recognition service to generate identification results (name, category, estimated value, history, and related details), which are then displayed to you and saved locally on your device.
App Improvement: Analyze aggregated, anonymized usage data (via Firebase Analytics) to understand feature usage, identify bugs, and improve app performance..
Advertising: Display and measure advertisements through Google AdMob.
Subscription Management: Unlock Premium features (ad-free experience, unlimited scans) based on your active subscription status as confirmed by Google Play Billing.
Security & Fraud Prevention: Detect and prevent misuse of the Services.
(Applicable if you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom (UK), or Canada)
Under GDPR and Canadian privacy regulations, we only process your personal information when we have a valid legal basis:
Local Storage: Photos you scan and the resulting identification data (item name, category, description, estimated value, and related fields) are stored locally on your device only, in the App's local database. We do not upload, retain, or maintain a copy of your scanned photos or identification history on our own servers.
Deleting the App: Because scan history and photos are stored locally, uninstalling the App will permanently delete this data from your device. We have no ability to recover this data on your behalf.
Unlike some AI applications that process content entirely on their own servers, BankSnap uses a third-party image-recognition API service to analyze the photos you submit for identification.
When you use the scan feature, the photo is transmitted to this third-party service solely for the purpose of generating an identification result. We do not control how this third-party service internally processes, temporarily caches, or discards the image after returning a result. We encourage users who are concerned about this to avoid submitting photos containing sensitive personal information, other identifiable individuals, or confidential content.
We select and work with service providers that we reasonably believe follow standard industry security practices, but we cannot guarantee the internal data handling practices of independent third-party services.
We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information under the following circumstances:
Third-Party AI Service Provider: Photos submitted for identification are shared with our third-party image-recognition API provider, solely to generate the identification result (see Section 4).
Advertising Partner: Device and usage data may be shared with Google AdMob to serve and measure advertisements.
Analytics Provider: Usage and diagnostic data is shared with Firebase Analytics (Google) to help us understand app performance.
Payment Processor: Subscription purchases are processed by Google Play Billing.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information to comply with applicable law, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect our rights.
Business Transfers: If we undergo a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, relevant information may be transferred to the successor entity.
Local Data (Photos & Scan History): Retained on your device for as long as you keep the App installed, or until you manually delete individual items within the App. This data is permanently deleted when you uninstall the App.
Analytics & Diagnostic Data: Retained by Firebase Analytics according to Google's standard retention periods, which you can review at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Third-Party AI Processing: We do not control how long the third-party recognition service retains submitted photos on their end; please refer to Section 4.
