The Citizen Science Station addresses the challenge of limited local data by engaging both tourists and locals in the research and development of the wetland park in barangay Consuelo. Equipped with basic science testing kits for water salinity, water level measurements, and microscopes for specimen observation, it serves as a hub for scientific inquiry.
Additionally, binoculars on the balcony allow for closer observation of the mangroves, while books, collaboration materials, and learning posters foster awareness about wetlands preservation. This is part of the Education component of CEPA tools introduced by the Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands (SCPW).
BUILDING MORPHOLOGY
Establishing the Space. The rectilinear shape of the structure contributes to space efficiency and easier spatial lay outing, given that it won't utilize big portion of lot compared to other structures.
Minimizing Building Footprint. Elevating the structure using concrete piers prevents disruption of the mudflats floor which may affect the ecosystem during the construction phase.
Connecting to three trails. Since it is located near the intersection of boardwalks, three (3) sides of the structure were extended. It was also to establish approach or access to the station.
Simple roofing. Gable roof is one of the most common yet one of the most efficient and easiest roof to construct. In a tropical country, it perfectly protects the structure especially during the rainy season.
Creating Motion. The form of the structure is inspired from the flying motion of the local and migratory birds that visit the area. It also adds interest to the building.
Inspired by the graceful movements of birds, the station's design metaphorically signifies its role in spreading awareness and knowledge beyond the local community, envisioning the Bankuan Wetland Park as a model for community-based ecoparks where humans and wetlands coexist harmoniously.
The Citizen Science Station strategically located within the Wetland Park's boardwalks aims to engage visitors while traversing the boardwalks. It provides accessible tools such as water salinity testing kits, microscopes for specimen examination, and QR codes for seamless data input into the wetland center's research database.
Our wetland park boasts a vibrant learning center, a hub of education blending workshop facilities with an interactive museum, aiming to spark curiosity and nurture environmental awareness. Here, visitors embark on immersive journeys, exploring the intricacies of wetland ecosystems through hands-on workshops and captivating exhibits.

BUILDING MORPHOLOGY
Starting with a Simple Rectangle. The evolution of the building morph begins with a straightforward rectangular shape as its foundation. This simple yet versatile structure serves as the canvas for subsequent enhancements and innovations.
Division into Two on the Second Floor. As the building morph progresses, the initial rectangular shape is divided into two distinct sections on the second floor. This strategic division allows for the optimization of space and functionality, paving the way for diverse usage and design possibilities.
Creating Balconies for Workshop Attendees. In the next phase of the building morph, expansive balconies are integrated to cater specifically to workshop attendees. These wide balconies offer ample space for users to gather, collaborate, and engage in hands-on activities, enriching their learning experience within the workshop areas.
Basic roofing. In its final stage of evolution, the building morph adopts a hip roof design, embracing simplicity and efficiency. This roofing style minimizes structural complexity while offering a clean, timeless aesthetic. Balanced and versatile, the hip roof serves as the ideal culmination of the building's transformation, marrying practicality with understated elegance.
