Com. P. Gangadhara Rao immediately after his retirement, Joining hands with Com. Raman Kutty the then General Secretary of T-3 Union and the Architect of “ALL INDIA BSNL PENSIONRS WELFARE ASSOCIATION” [which officially launched on 20-08.-2009,] has started a tiny Karnataka Circle unit with 20 members during August 2008 by taking the Assistance of Late Com. C.G. Venkatesh. They worked together as Circle President and Circle Secretary respectively. In his journey of 16 years he reached a very big milestone of 10,000 membership. The membership Drive started by forming District Unit of Bangalore Telecom District. He constituted different Teams and have been allotted area wise and started visiting the houses with the list of retired people. Impact is swelling the membership very fast.

In an innovative way of conducting the Monthly meeting, Annual Digital Life Certificate camps are organized, Migration from BSNL MRS to CGHS regularly, these two major services boosted the membership. Added to this, he undertook the Organizational tour to the other District of Karnataka and opened Branches in Kolar, Karwar, Gulbarga, Belgaum, Hubli, Mangalore, Mysore, Chickmagalore,Tumkur, Davangere, Davangere, Hassan, Bijapur, Shimoga, Bellary, Bidar, Raichur totaling to 17 District Branches. Among all these, Bangalore Telecom District is the biggest unit with 37% with 3666. Mangalore and Hubli have crossed 1000 mark. Bijapur, Mysore and Kolar more than 500.

This phenomenal growth in almost all Districts has given us this result today.

He not only founder President of the Karnataka Circle, he served as Assistant General Secretary for two terms, Deputy General Secretary and General Secretary and now he is serving as Vice-President at Central Head Quarters. He is the main resource person in Karnataka Circle.

Let his tribe increase.

SHANTHA MOORTHY

Whoever named him aptly captured his true essence; he is a wonderfully cool, calm, and tireless workaholic. No social initiative or welfare program undertaken by the Association ever reaches successful completion without Shantha Moorthy’s steadfast support and active involvement.

At every Association meeting, his exceptional craftsmanship is instantly visible. From the meticulous arrangement of the stage to the orderly placement of tables and chairs, everything he touches reflects care and precision. Yet, what makes him truly remarkable is his absolute humility. He never hesitates or feels above any task—whether it is serving snacks, looking after our super-senior members with utmost patience, capturing the proceedings through his photography, or handling countless other background duties. He is a social server in the truest sense, always putting the comfort of others before his own.

His compassionate vision extends far beyond our immediate organization. It was his inspiring idea that led our Association to extend a helping hand to a local ashram that shelters, feeds, and cares for destitute people found on the streets. Today, both he and his family are deeply and actively involved in this noble mission of uplifting the most vulnerable in our society. Furthermore, when working for the collective cause, he recognizes no boundaries or hierarchical distinctions—whether a task belongs to the district, circle, or any other level, he dives right in with equal enthusiasm and dedication.

During our recently concluded 7th Annual General Body Meeting on August 23, 2026, he took on the monumental responsibility of organizing and serving lunch for over 500 attending delegates. Under his expert supervision, a traditional feast was served on plantain leaves, reminiscent of genuine hospitality. The food was sumptuous and delicious, earning glowing, heartfelt appreciation from every single participant. Words always fall short when appraising his relentless efforts, but the admiration and respect the members hold for him are simply enormous.

The Unsung Hero and Heartbeat of Our Community

He does not merely carry out responsibilities; he elevates them into an inspiring art form, setting a high benchmark for what true community leadership looks like. The younger generation and fellow members have much to learn from his tireless spirit. The Association stands taller, stronger, and infinitely more compassionate simply because he walks among us, quietly lifting everyone up.

To hold protest demonstration on 1st October 2026 BSNL Offices throught the Country.
On 07-10-2026 to hold Black badge demonstration be fore all BSNL Offices throught the Country.

Response letter written to Com. Chandeshwar Singh & Com. Animesh Mitra, General Secretaries of NFTE and BSNLEW respectively by our General Secretary Com. V. Varaprasad:

We thank you for your letter dated 27.09.2026, appealing for support for agitational orogrammes demanding Wage Revision w.e.f 01.01.2017 as per 3rd PRC formula.

Serving Employees Associations are the masters to decide their demands.

You may be well aware that our consistent demand is Pension Revision on the basis of the 7th CPC, delinking pension revision from pay revision. In the past, the AUB also, demanded such delinking. Yhis is because 100% of liability for payment of pension and Family pension rest with the Government of India, and BSNL has no liability in this regard.

Our SLP is pending before the Hon'ble Supreme Court.

Since you are on the path of struggle for your own demands, as a Sister Organisation, we ectend our support to your agitational programmes and wish you all success in your endeavours.

We call upon our members to hold a solidarity demonstration on 1st October, the Anniversary of BSNL and International Day of Older Persons, when you are conducting the Relay Hunger Fast. The demonstration may be held at the same venue where your fast programme is being organised.

The newly Elected Executive Committee Meeting

The First Meeting of the Newly Elected Executive Committee Meeting our District Association Bangalore was held on 25-09-2026 under the Presidentship of Com. K Ranayakulu-District President.

Com. P.Gangadhara Rao, Vice President -CHQ, Com. G.Babu, Assistant General Secretary-CHQ, Com. A. Savitha, Organising Secretary-CHQ, Com. P.A. Virupakshaiah, Circle Secretary, Com> S.Ganeshan, Cicle Treasurer, and members of the Newly Elected of the District Executive Committee participated.

After the introductory and Wel-Come speech by the President, the Newly Elected District Secretary Com. R. Janardhana Rao Congratulated the Newly Electe Members & expressed his gratitude to wvery one who extended their unstinted co-operation for the success of the 7th District Conference. He then explainrd the arragments for the Digital Life Certificate camps prposed to be conducted at six locations on 1st, 2nd and 3rd October.

Com. Deepak, the Disdtrict Treasurer, presented the report od Accounts and Donations received for the 7th Biennial District Conference and Expenditure incurred for the Conference.

Com. P. Gangadhara Rao, appreciated the arrangements made for the Conference and briefed the members about the Validation Act case being heard in the Suprem Court today which has postponed to 03-10-2026. He also, appreciated the assistance rendered by Com. A. Savitha and her husband, Sri Shashidhar Adapa. Com. G. Babu appreciated the activities of the Bangalore District and advised themembers to make efforts to increase the membership. Com. A. Savitha and Com. Virupakshaiahalso, addressed the meeting.

One of our District Vice-Presidents Com. S.Javarappa spoke and explained about his Newly Built & Developed Website by him for the our District and also, he explained the informations contained in the 7 pages website.

ಇಂದು 16.09.2026 ನಮ್ಮ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾಸಿಕ ಸಭೆಯು ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಕಾಂ.ರಂಗನಾಯಕುಲು ಅವರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಕಾಂ. ಪಿ. ಗಂಗಾಧರ ರಾವ್‌ ರವರು, ವಲಯ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಗಳಾದ ಕಾಂ. ಪಿ.ಎ. ವಿರೂಪಾಕ್ಷಯ್ಯನವರು ಮತ್ತು ಸುಮಾರು ಅರವತ್ತು ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

ನಮ್ಮ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಕಾಂ. ಎಸ್.‌ ಜವರಪ್ಪನವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ತಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಸಂಘಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ರೂಪಿಸಿರುವ “ಅಂತರ್ಜಾಲ ತಾಣದ (WEBSITE) ವಿನ್ಯಾಸವನ್ನು ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವರಿಸಿ, ಅದನ್ನು ಪ್ರಚುರಪಡಿಸಲು ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ವಲಯ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಗಳಾದ ಕಾಂ. ವಿರೂಪಾಕ್ಷಯ್ಯ ನವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಕೌಟುಂಬಿಕ ಪಿಂಚಣಿಗೆ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅರ್ಜೀ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದಾಗ ಅವರ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಆದಾಯವನ್ನು ಸಿ.ಸಿ.ಎ. ಕಛೇರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅತೀ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮವಾಗಿ ಗಮನಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ . ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಆದಾಯವು ರೂ. 1,80,000/- ಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಪಿಂಚಣಿ ಸವಲತ್ತುಗಳು ಸಿಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅವರ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ F. D ಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಹೆಸರಿಗೆ ವರ್ಗಾಯಿಸಿ ಆದಾಯ ಮಿತಿಯನ್ನು ರೂ. 1,80,000/- ಮೀರದಂತೆ ನಿಗಾವಹಿಸಿ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಹೆಚ್.‌ ವಿ. ಪ್ರಕಾಶ್‌ ರವರ ವಂದನಾರ್ಪಣೆಯೊಡನೆ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯವಾಯಿತು.

DISTRICT- MONTHLY MEETING

On 16.09.2026, our district monthly meeting was held under the chairmanship of District President Com. Ranganayakulu. The meeting was attended by Central Committee Vice President Com. P. Gangadhara Rao, Zonal Secretary Com. P. A. Virupakshayya, and around sixty members.

Following the president's introductory speech, the secretary welcomed the members and expressed appreciation to all committee members who donated and cooperated for the grand success of the 7th Biennial Conference of Bengaluru District, as well as acknowledging the cooperation of Com. Savita and her husband Mr. Shashidhara Adapa.

Our District Vice President Com. S. Javarappa spoke and explained in detail about the layout of the newly designed website for our district association at the meeting, and requested members to popularize it.

Circle Secretary Com. Virupakshayya spoke and stated that when daughters apply for family pension, their annual income is being scrutinized very closely at the CCA office. If the annual income exceeds Rs. 1,80,000/-, pension benefits are not granted. Therefore, he advised transferring FDs held in their names to their children's names to ensure the income limit does not exceed Rs. 1,80,000/-.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by another Vice President, Com. H. V. Prakash.

The 17th Foundation Day Celebration and the 7th Bengaluru District Conference

The 17th Foundation Day Celebration and the 7th Bengaluru District Conference of AIBSNLPWA was held with great splendor on 23-08-2026 at the Open-Air Auditorium of the CGMT Office, Bengaluru. Comrade D. Gopalakrishnan, National President of our Association, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The distinguished guests of honor included Joint-CCA Shri R. Satish Kumar; Comrade P. Gangadhara Rao, National Vice-President; Comrade G. Babu, National Assistant General Secretary; Comrade A. Savitha, National Organising Secretary; Comrade R. Changappa, our Circle President; and Comrade P.A. Virupakshaiah, Circle Secretary.

As per tradition, the programme commenced with the hoisting of the Association flag, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Comrade A. Savitha, the National Organizing Secretary of the Association, served as the Master of Ceremonies and conducted the proceedings with remarkable ease and grace in her characteristic colloquial style. During the course of the programme, she also suggested that a “mini-booklet” (Kiru-Hottige) be brought out to commemorate the Foundation Day.

On the occasion of the 17th Foundation Day of AIBSNLPWA, Comrade R. Changappa delivered the introductory address. He elaborated on the vital role and necessity of associations and organizations, particularly in safeguarding the interests and welfare of pensioners.

He recalled that AIBSNLPWA came into existence on 20-08-2009, and acknowledged the significant contributions of Comrade P. Gangadhara Rao and Comrade C.G. Venkatesh and Comrade Late K.Gururajan then AGM in CGM's Office, in establishing the Association in Bengaluru. He particularly commended the tireless efforts of Comrade P. Gangadhara Rao, who travelled across the various districts of Karnataka to strengthen and expand the organization.

The steady growth of the Association was reflected in the impressive membership strength of 4,023 in Bengaluru alone.

Comrade Changappa also recalled the important role played by political intervention in securing some of the crucial demands of pensioners. Referring to the efforts made by himself and Comrade P. Gangadhara Rao, he spoke about their approach to the late Shri Anantha Kumar, then a Cabinet Minister in the Government headed by Shri Narendra Modi, through his relative, the late Shri P. Ramachandraiah. He stated that the enhanced 78.2% pension being received by pensioners today was, in part, the outcome of those efforts. He concluded by stating that Comrade D. Gopalakrishnan, National President of the Association, would elaborate

Participating in meetings and conferences makes a ready man.

Possessing all three of these qualities, Comrade D. Gopalakrishnan addressed the gathering in his distinctive and commanding and in his metallic voice. His address, extending for more than one hour, provided an elaborate account of the various initiatives undertaken by the Association for resolving the problems and protecting the interests of pensioners.

He also dealt in detail with the legal remedies being pursued for Pension Revision of BSNL Pensioners, including the Special Leave Petition (SLP) before the Hon’ble Supreme Court. His comprehensive presentation provided the gathering with valuable insight into the issues confronting BSNL pensioners and the efforts being made by the Association to secure justice for them.

This was followed by addresses from other members of the Union hierarchy, who further enriched the proceedings with their valuable observations and guidance.

The BGTD Team deserves special appreciation for organizing the entire Conference in a colourful, systematic and meticulous manner. The arrangements and conduct of the programme were widely appreciated by the participants.

In all respects, the 17th Foundation Day Celebration and the 7th Bengaluru District Conference concluded on a highly successful and memorable note.
