If you want a lighter, Xbox-focused headset with listed long-wear comfort features for a big head, choose Bang & Olufsen Beoplay; if you need broader system mixing, swappable batteries, and more audio-control options, choose SteelSeries Arctis Nova Elite. The Beoplay Portal’s listed weight is 246 g, while the Nova Elite is 338 g, a meaningful difference to consider when fit and pressure matter. Neither spec sheet gives headband dimensions or an adjustment range, so weight and padding—not a guaranteed fit—are the useful clues here.
For shoppers searching for the best headphones for big head, the key decision is comfort-oriented lightness versus a more flexible, multi-source gaming setup. These are over-ear gaming headsets, not earbuds, so searches for the best bluetooth earbuds for big head or earphones for big head point to a different category.

How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
The Beoplay Portal is the more comfort-oriented option on paper. Its 246 g listed weight is lower than the Nova Elite’s, and its memory-foam earcups and padded headband are specifically described as supporting longer wear. That makes it the more appealing starting point if you are concerned about headset pressure or are looking for headphones for a big head. Still, the sheet provides no headband measurements or adjustment range, so weight and padding can inform the choice but cannot confirm fit.
It is also the clearer match for someone whose main gaming system is Xbox. The headset is designed for Xbox and lists a lossless Xbox connection, alongside Bluetooth and wireless connectivity. Active noise cancellation, Dolby Atmos for Headphones, and a four-microphone virtual boom-arm with Own Voice technology address immersion and voice chat. The listed battery life is 12 hours, so frequent long sessions may call for more charging than the Nova Elite’s two-battery arrangement.
I’d skip the Beoplay Portal if you need to mix sound from several systems at once or want a headset with a swappable-battery setup. Its listed strengths are focused: Xbox play, lighter weight, comfort features, and everyday listening through Bluetooth or a 3.5 mm connection. It isn’t the more flexible pick for a multi-device gaming desk.
The Nova Elite is built around flexibility. Its OmniPlay setup can mix up to four sources, including PC, console, Bluetooth, and line-in, with the product information naming PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch among compatible systems. For a household or desk setup where the audio source changes often, that broader source mixing is its clearest advantage over the Xbox-oriented Beoplay Portal.
Its two-battery design is another practical distinction. One battery can power the headset while the other charges in the GameHub; each is listed for up to 30 hours, and the sheet describes a 15-minute fast charge as providing four hours. The headset also offers active noise cancellation, AI noise rejection for voice pickup, and controls through both a companion app and the GameHub’s OLED display. Its carbon-fiber drivers are designed for responsive, clear sound.
The trade-off is weight: 338 g is 92 g more than the Beoplay Portal’s listed 246 g. That does not determine whether the headset will fit a particular head, but it is worth factoring in if you are sensitive to weight during long sessions. I’d choose the Nova Elite for its system flexibility and battery arrangement, but skip it if your main priority is the lower listed weight or a wired 3.5 mm option; its sheet lists no headphone jack.
Side-by-Side: Which Should You Choose?
• Best for an Xbox-centered setup → Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal. The headset is designed for Xbox and lists a lossless Xbox connection.
• Best for mixing several audio sources → SteelSeries Arctis Nova Elite. OmniPlay supports mixing up to four sources, including PC, console, Bluetooth, and line-in.
• Best for reducing battery interruptions → SteelSeries Arctis Nova Elite. Its two swappable batteries are each listed for up to 30 hours, with fast charging also specified.
• Best for the lower listed weight → Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal. It weighs 246 g versus 338 g for the Nova Elite; weight alone cannot guarantee comfort or fit.
• Best for listed wireless and wired connection options → Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal. Its sheet includes Bluetooth, wireless connectivity, and a 3.5 mm jack. The Nova Elite sheet lists wireless Bluetooth connectivity and no headphone jack.
• Best for gaming voice features → It depends on the feature you value. Beoplay lists a virtual boom-arm microphone and Own Voice; Nova Elite lists AI noise rejection for calls across PC, console, and mobile.
• Best for onboard and app-based adjustments → SteelSeries Arctis Nova Elite. It lists real-time app controls and an OLED display on the GameHub; Beoplay lists app and touch controls.
I’d choose the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay Portal for a big head if lower listed weight and explicit padding and memory-foam comfort features are the deciding factors. Its Xbox focus and 12-hour battery life are trade-offs I’d accept for that lighter design. I’d pick the Nova Elite instead for multi-system audio mixing and swappable batteries. Neither spec sheet confirms fit for a particular head, so I’d treat the Beoplay as the more promising comfort-led choice, not a guaranteed fit.
