A lot of this video is really epic, like the scene of them in a car shooting smoke and fire, but then we get some lackluster scenes of them sitting in stationary motorcycles or standing in plain rooms. However, when taking into account that beautiful ending, the good makes up for the bad. In the end, they definitely go out with a bang (pun intended).

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a contemporary musical featuring post-golden age songs. Because of that, most of the songs below are from the 1960s-1970s. In addition, many of the songs have more of a playful/wholesome vibe to them in order to match the style of the show.

Concert Selections are original Broadway orchestrations and exciting new symphonic arrangements of select songs for use in concert performances. Concert Selections are the perfect way to give audiences a taste of the musical theatre experience without the sets, props and costumes.

Perseverance Records is proud to announce the reissue of the soundtrack to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. This is a 2-CD reissue of the Kritzerland limited edition release.Best known for their many songs written for Walt Disney Pictures, the Sherman Brothers, Richard and Robert, took on the task of creating songs for the film—their first ever non-Disney venture. Producer Cubby Broccoli thought the Shermans would be the perfect duo to write the songs for the film. While they were still with his studio, Walt Disney gave the brothers his blessing to work on the project due to a clause in their contract that allowed them to do so. They were involved with the film for about a year but went to England for three months to write the music. This is an exciting project for our label as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is one of the most beloved family films of all time. This is a release that should never be out of print. For that reason we are going to make this an unlimited/limited release. Born Gilberto Calderon in New York in 1931, and originally a conguero, Cuba and his band were part of a pivotal generation of NY-raised Puerto Rican Americans (Nuyoricans) who helped define the city's Latin music styles following the mambo-era of the 1960s. Here's a selection of some of Cuba's key songs over those years.

Both songs purport to be empowering feminist anthems about female sexuality and being the pursuer instead of the pursued. Sure, there are problematic aspects with the feminism present in each song, but we appreciate them for what they were trying to do: give us a barely-covert way to sing about sex.

Listen to "Bang Bang" and "Lady Marmalade". Notice anything in common musically? That's right. Both songs have a rhythmic beat leading into the first verse. For "Lady Marmalade", it's snapping fingers. For "Bang Bang", it's clapping. Seriously, "Bang Bang" and "Lady Marmalade" are the same song, but I'm not complaining. It's just another reason to listen to them both on repeat.

Likewise, we had very strict standards about the sorts of songs we'd tolerate around campfires. We didn't mind Pat Buttram, or even a reprise of "Cool Water" from the Sons of the Pioneers, but Rex Allen was always singing love songs to the rancher's daughter and we learned plenty fast to steer clear of old Rex.

But the trouble is, these two hours of fun are surrounded by about another 45 minutes of soppy love songs, corny ballads and a lot of mushy stuff. This was apparently meant for the adults. At least, I didn't see any kids who looked interested. What everybody liked was the way Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (that's the name of the car) could float and fly, and the way grandpa (Lionel Jeffries in a marvelous performance) was lifted up into the sky by mean Baron Bomburst's balloon (hilariously commanded by Gert Frobe as the baron).

The Street Crimes Unit was disbanded in 2002 because of all of the negative publicity coming from the Amadou Diallo incident as well as SEVERAL other similar incidents in which they injured or killed innocent victims. The death of Amadou Diallo has since become an event of monumental significance for the city of New York and the movement against unnecessary racial profiling and police brutality, much like the Rodney King incident, amongst many others. Amadou Diallo is the subject of or is mentioned in several works of music, literature, film, and art; notably songs, books and films by Wyclef Jean, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Spike Jonze, Common, Bruce Springsteen, Dave Eggers, Erykah Badu, Leftover Crack, Le Tigre, and many many others.

I've been listening to Dispatch for about ten years. What I've learned is that most of their songs are written as stories or poems and are not to be taken literally, but each has a distinct meaning. This particular song actually is about drugs, but instead of promoting them, the band is actually providing commentary on the life of a junkie. Those who said that the song is discussing the meaning of life are also correct. The song actually reminds me of an old Indian folktale of a man who was seduced by a woman who possessed him and the only way that he could get clean again was venturing to a sacred river and meeting the guardian of life who cleansed him by instilling in him a new meaning of life that led him to abandon his old ways of womanizing and drinking. I think that that's what this song is about, the life of a junkie who has become enlightened by some higher power (the old man), be it God, knowledge, or just a newfound respect for the sanctity of life. I actually view the woman in this song as the substance or the addiction. In essence I believe that this song is telling us that everyone has power over their own life and also the power to change that life around at any time. 2351a5e196
