Effective Date: [01 07, 2026]
This Privacy Policy explains how [Your Legal Entity — e.g., CodeStreaks LLC] ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use the Bandwise mobile application ("App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
By downloading or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
Bandwise is a speaking-practice application that helps you prepare for English speaking tests (such as IELTS and TOEFL). You answer practice questions out loud; the App uses artificial intelligence to estimate a band score, explain it against the standard speaking criteria, and give you targeted feedback and drills. All scores are practice estimates and are not official test results.
Account Information. You sign in with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. We receive a unique account identifier and, if your provider shares it, an email address (with Apple you may choose "Hide My Email"). We never receive or store your Apple/Google password.
Voice Recordings and Practice Data. When you use a practice session:
Your answer is recorded and transcribed on your device. The transcript (text) plus timing metrics (speech rate, pauses, filler counts) are sent to our third-party AI provider to generate your score and feedback. Your audio recording itself is not sent to the AI provider.
Your audio recording is stored in your account so you can play it back and hear your progress over time. You can delete any recording, or your whole account, at any time.
Your results (scores, feedback, recurring-mistake drills, study plan, streak) are stored in your account and cached on your device.
We do not use your recordings or transcripts to train AI models, and we never share them with advertisers.
We ask for your explicit consent before any speaking data is sent to our AI provider, and you can withdraw that consent at any time in Settings.
Subscription Information. We offer weekly, monthly, and annual premium subscriptions. Billing is handled entirely by the Apple App Store.
We never collect or store credit card numbers or financial data.
We receive only your subscription status (active, in trial, expired, cancelled) to unlock or restrict premium features.
Analytics & Diagnostics. We collect anonymous, non-identifiable data to keep the App stable and improve it: device type and OS version, crash logs and error reports, and general feature-usage events. The App does not display ads and does not use advertising identifiers (IDFA).
We use your information to:
Provide the core speaking-practice, scoring, and feedback features
Generate your estimated band, explanations, and personalized drills
Save and sync your progress, plan, and streak under your account
Send practice reminders and progress notifications (only if you enable notifications)
Manage your subscription access
Improve app stability and performance, and respond to support requests
We never sell or rent your personal data.
The App relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
Google Firebase — authentication, database, secure file storage, notifications, and anonymous analytics/crash reporting
xAI (Grok) — AI processing of your transcript and metrics to generate your score and feedback
Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google — authentication
RevenueCat — subscription management
Apple App Store — subscription billing
(If you later add audio-based pronunciation scoring, a speech-assessment provider that processes your audio must be added here — and you'll need to disclose that audio is sent to it.)
If you allow notifications, we use a device push token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) to send practice reminders and progress updates. You can turn notifications off anytime in your device settings.
Data synced to your account is managed by Google Firebase and protected in transit (TLS) and at rest. The App communicates with all servers over HTTPS only.
Your transcript is processed by our AI provider only to return your result; confirm and state your provider's retention terms here (e.g., "not retained beyond processing").
No system is 100% secure. While we implement strong protections, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Premium features are available via weekly, monthly, and annual plans, billed by the Apple App Store. Manage or cancel anytime: iPhone/iPad → Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Any free trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends.
You can delete all your data at any time:
Use Settings → Delete Account in the App, or
Email us at [support email] with the subject line "Data Deletion Request."
Deleting your account removes your recordings, transcripts, results, and profile. We process email requests within 30 days. Deleting your data does not automatically cancel an active subscription — cancel that separately through your device settings.
Bandwise is not intended for anyone under [16 / the age of digital consent in your region]. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn a child's data has been collected, we will delete it promptly.
Depending on your jurisdiction (including the EEA, UK, and California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email [support email]. You can withdraw AI-processing consent anytime in Settings.
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our third-party providers operate. We use appropriate safeguards to protect your data in compliance with applicable laws.
Bandwise is an independent study tool for practice purposes. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the IELTS partners (British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, Cambridge University Press & Assessment) or ETS (TOEFL). Band scores are AI-generated practice estimates and do not replace an official test result. The App does not provide medical, legal, or professional advice.
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we will revise the "Effective Date" above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
