Before visiting Bogotá
Bogotá is served by El Dorado Interntional Airport (BOG).
Universidad del Rosario is located in the vibrant neighborhood of La Candelaria (Bogotá Historic Center).
There are several ways to get from the airport to La Candelaria, a taxi fare is about 15 USD and the public bus fare is less than 1 USD. You can check Bogotá tourist information website for details.
Even though most tourist attractions, hotels and restaurants accept payments with credit cards, we recommend to get some Colombian Pesos at the airport to pay taxi fares and enjoy the delicacies of local vendors.
Be aware that if traveling from a country with a risk of yellow fever or transiting through such a country for over 12 hours, the yellow fever vaccine becomes mandatory and you might be asked to present your vaccination card at the airport proving that you got vaccinated at least 10 days before your trip.
Bogotá is situated at an altitude of 2,640 meters (8,660 feet) above sea level, high in the Andes mountains range, making it one of the highest capital cities in the world. While visiting its dizzying heights, be warned that the city’s high altitude can make visitors prone to soroche, or altitude sickness. Here you can find some nice tips to survive it in case you get it!
