The Bancroft Dance Academy started as a basement dance and tumbling studio in the home of owner, Beth Pedersen, in Bancroft Iowa. It then moved to a rental space at the North Kossuth Golf Club for one season before moving into it's own studio space. After many renovations, and with help from the Bancroft Community Foundation we have been able to dance at a successful location on Main Street in Bancroft at 103 W. Ramsey Street.
Initial goals for this studio were to have an affordable program for kids in the area as young as 2 years old. It has become so much more than that! It is still a place we want to keep affordable and convenient for families, and out recital dance team offers that. We also want to be a studio who welcomes all. We want our students to feel loved and safe at the studio, we want to develop relationships that become more like family, not just once a week dance time.
At the Bancroft Dance Academy, we strive to develop a love for dance and tumbling. We plan to develop early skills and build from them. We offer classes in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop and tumbling. We also offer competition team classes. We hope to expand a little further each year as we learn and grow. Thank you for joining us in this journey!
Teachers:
Mrs. Beth Pedersen- Teacher/Owner
Hello! I am Beth. I danced and cheered through high school and went on to cheer with the UNI chearleading team in college. Before I started the studio, I coached the high school dance team for four years and was a teacher for 11 years. Last year, I officially stepped away from my teaching job to run the studio full time and homeschool my children. I have a wonderful supportive husband, Blake, who I have been with for 19 years now and married for 11 of them. Together, we have three awesome kids, Cooper (10), Owen (8), and Elliott (6). You will be seeing them in the studio for classes this fall. This year is year FIVE at the studio, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the support we've been given along the way. I praise God for this path he led my family and I to 5 years ago, and can't wait to see where it continues to take us. Thanks for all the support. We appreciate you all!
Mrs. Brandi- Dance Teacher
Brandi has 4 kids (3 daughters and 1 son) and a crazy ridiculous husband that she loves. She enjoys taking trips and spending time with family and friends, shopping, watching her kiddos play sports, music and dance of course!! She started dancing when she was 2 and went on to win two ballet scholarships to New York City!! In her dance career, she went to all kinds of camps in Wisconsin, Chicago and Iowa. (fun fact: one of her instructors at a convention was one of Janet Jacksons choreographers and she also was taught by a guy who danced in the movie “she's all that” during the prom). Brandi is close to my heart (Beth) because she’s taken care of my kids since they were babies!! She has a wonderful in home daycare just outside of Swea City! Brandi has been with us since day 1 and will be joining us for the fifth year at the studio. We are not sure what we’d do without her!
Ms. Karissa- Dance Teacher
I had the honor of coaching Karissa her senior year in high school dance! I can’t wait to have her join our team. She started dance when she was 4, continued through high school and also participated at college! She was on the NU dance team and BVU dance team. Her dance experience is in areas of ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop. Karissa grew up in Bancroft and graduated from North Union in 2017. She attended BVU and then Waldorf where she graduated in 2021 with a degree in elementary education. She is a special education teacher at North Iowa in Buffalo Center. Karissa is joining us for her 3rd year.
