2024 Presidential Election Idiocracy Part 1
August 17, 2024
I'm 66 years old, that means I have voted in 12 presidential elections starting with Jimmy Carter vs Gerald Ford in 1976, and I am going to be voting in my 13th presidential election this November with our presidential candidates being former President Donald Trump vs our current Vice-President Kamala Harris.
I actually enjoyed the elections back in the day, back when politicians were called statesmen and stateswomen (A statesman or stateswoman is a politician or a leader in an organization who has had a long and respected career at the national or international level [1]).
Nowadays, I swear I'm listening to kids on the playground, and nasty kids at that. You did this, well you did that, well you're weird, well you're not smart... Are you freaking serious? Not only are these supposed to be adults, but these are supposed to be the greatest statesmen and stateswomen in the world. The leaders of the greatest country in the world.
Have to love today's speech by VP Kamala Harris, wow, her administration plans on watching out for Americans, couple key points:
Ban on grocery price gouging
$25,000 subsidy for first time home buyers
Tax incentives to home builders to build starter homes & affordable rental homes
Reducing the tax burden on middle-class consumers
$6,000 child tax credit
No tax on tips (that's 2 1/2% of working people in the US, do the other 97 1/2% of working Americans think this is fair? And, do I get a rebate for all the years I received tips?)
And, how is this presidential hopeful going to "safeguard the federal government's financial health", by asking "the wealthiest Americans and largest corporations to pay their fair share," the campaign said.
Learn more about Kamala Harris's platform here... https://kamalaharris.com/ (I couldn't find her platform, maybe you can and can share the link with us.)
If I may say something here, so Kamala is going to ask the wealthiest and the biggest, those that pay lawyers and tax attorneys to make sure they don't pay taxes, and have been successfully doing it for decades, to pay more. And, I'm sure these lawyers and tax attorneys are just going to roll over and give Kamala their belly to rub.
US Inflation
Killing the middle-class, and completly destroying the lower-class & retirees on a fixed income!
Now, what did the 45th President, Donald Trump, have to share about the economy just a couple days ago:
Going to direct Cabinet Secretaries and agencies to work to "defeat inflation".
Get rid of job regulations that are costing jobs
No tax on tips (see same as above comments)
Eliminating tax on Social Security benefits
"Inflation is destroying our country. It's destroying our families. We will target everything from car affordability to housing affordability to insurance costs to supply chain issues ... to the price of prescription drugs, I will instruct my Cabinet that I expect results within the first 100 days, or much sooner than that." (Well, that sure is specific and something to look forward to.)
And, how is Trump going to pay for this, and work on the federal deficit? The answer is "drill, baby, drill"!
Now, you can read Trump's 20 point plan on his website (https://www.donaldjtrump.com/platform), and if I may interject, the only way he's planning to pay for all this he want to accomplish (and reduce the federal debt) is to "drill, baby, drill"), are you freaking serious?
Presidential Contenders
The best the United States of America has to offer for the 2024 Presidential Election (are you freaking kidding me!)
Once upon a time politicians, like professional ballplayers, used to have real jobs and they were politicians and ballplayers because they wanted to accomplish something or because they wanted to follow their passion in life, some cases both, but that was once upon a time.
I grew up down the street from Johnny Unitas, #19, quarterback, for the Baltimore Colts, (love to know how many readers knew the Indianapolis Colts were from Baltimore? Mayor Schaefer deserved a swift kick in the keister for being a cheap piece of worm dirt for losing a thirty year franchise because of a few pennies for a new stadium, muthapuck!) Oops, that a personal grudge that I'm still holding so many years later, bet I'm not the only one!
Any way, the point is politicians, like ballplayers, had regular jobs so they could be politicians and ballplayers.
Now, the median net worth of a politician is over $1 million, average net worth of a professional baseball player is now $4.5 million, professional football player is $860,000, professional soccer player is $400,000.
Average teacher in the US makes a little over $71,000...
Are you freaking kidding me? We live in a country where we value politicians and ballplayers more than those the help shape the future of our country by teaching our children? I don't know about you, but this drives me, absolutely, up the freakin' wall.
Personally, I pretty much stopped watching ballplayers when the Colts moved, it was all about the money and it has only gotten worse, and what's worse, is we don't care, we just keep going to games to help these greedy SOBs... Bah Humbug!
Enough of my rant, so no matter who you support, here's some cool gear for you...
