As a health studies major, I am passionate about public health's mission to protect and improve community health by preventing disease and addressing the social and environmental factors influencing health outcomes.

What draws me to this field is its emphasis on health equity and helping vulnerable populations. Everyone deserves access to quality healthcare regardless of their background. Public health tackles these challenges through community programs, policy work, and evidence-based solutions that address root causes, not just symptoms.

I'm particularly interested in how public health professionals use data to identify health trends and guide decision-making. This population health and community engagement foundation strengthens my preparation for becoming a Physician Assistant, where I can apply both individual patient care and population health perspectives.

Whether my career leads me directly to PA school or through other healthcare roles first, my public health background will help me become a more effective healthcare provider who considers both individual and community needs.
