Dr. Zoe Kalimeras Lazarou grew up in Kingston, NY. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from The State University of New York at New Paltz, and graduated from the State University of New York College of Optometry in 1998. She then completed the Ocular Disease/ Primary Eye Care residency at the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System in 1999. Dr. Lazarou then relocated to the Baltimore area and joined the eye care team at a multispecialty referral and surgical co-management center. Here she gained extensive experience managing all aspects of ocular disease, and surgical pre/post of management for anterior and posterior segment surgeries. She was also in charge of Optometry extern and post graduate resident education. Dr. Lazarou became a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry in 2000. She has presented and lectured locally and nationally. In 2010, she became a member of the Optometry attending team at the Baltimore VA Medical center, and took on the role of Chief of Optometry for the VA Maryland Health Care System in 2015.
