Balsamroot Nature School is an outdoor school fostering creative play for children ages 4-7yrs in Richland, WA. We meet two afternoons a week at Leslie Groves Park, where we connect with our natural environment and slip into the world of discovery and imaginary play. Our mission is for children to develop a love for and wonder of mother earth, forge friendships; and to nurture autonomy, creativity, and resilience.

In order to experience the sense-scape of our natural world, we acclimate and adapt to seasonal weather conditions, warming-up indoors as needed.

Plant and animal identification and characteristics are emphasized with a focus on native plants and birds. Stewardship and respect for life and habitat are reinforced. Trees will be climbed, rocks skipped, and earth overturned.
