Logistics Databank System (LDB): Now Targeting the Landlocked Neighboring Countries

Logistics issues for a landlocked country like Nepal are very much different as such countries have to depend upon their neighbors’ tracking infrastructure, be it solutions for Balmer & Lawrie container tracking or Continental Warehousing container tracking. Here the issues related to absolute visibility across the supply chain, higher cost of logistics, and effective and efficient cargo traceability emerge very dominantly. Keeping in view the same concerns, NICDC Logistics Data Services (NLDS), in collaboration with Maritime Gateway organized a webinar titled “Streamlining logistics for a landlocked country.”

NLDS: marching ahead with its innovative and strategic digital initiatives

Setting the tone for deliberations, the Editor-in-Chief, Maritime Gateway, recalled how the pandemic has affected and still affecting businesses across domains as well as the social life of the people across the globe. As per his opinion, digitalization has seen a never-before push in these difficult times in all walks of life, and particularly in the logistics industry including Balmer & Lawrie container tracking and Continental Warehousing container tracking. In these difficult times, NLDS has been marching ahead with its innovative and strategic digital initiatives for enabling and empowering visibility and traceability of cargo.

Overcoming the pain-points for Nepal trade

The system has helped not only in identifying the dark spots in the country’s logistics sector, but also improved the lead time and turnaround time while capacitating the shippers to plan things in the logistics environment better. The pain points that used to be almost insurmountable in Nepal have now started getting a satisfactory resolution. Today the shippers in Nepal can have absolute visibility on the happenings taking place either with Balmer & Lawrie container tracking or Continental Warehousing container tracking.

Giving a never-before push to Indo-Nepal international business

The Secretary, Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), laid stress on the need to convert Land Customs Stations (LCS) into Integrated Check Posts (ICPs) and create sufficient infrastructure for all stakeholders. This when duly placed can help the Indo-Nepal international business grow by leaps and bounds that are contemporarily pegged at Rs.30,000 Cr a year.

He was also of the view that effective and efficient container movement needs to be started at ICPs and for that, the work is already in progress to install rail sidings out there. At present, The LCs at Raxaul are being converted into ICP and two more ICPs are coming up at Sunauli and Rupaidiha.

Concluding Remarks

NICDC Logistics Data Services (NLDS), formerly DMICDC Logistics Data Services (DLDS) deployment of Logistics Databank System (LDB) has not only improved the overall performance of the logistics chain in India but now has started transforming the logistics scenario in Nepal also.

With the use of the DLDS’s flagship project, Logistics Data Bank (LDB) over 30 million containers in the country have been tracked. As per the latest, the tracking service is already functional at all container terminals in India including Balmer & Lawrie container tracking and Continental Warehousing container tracking, 4 check posts on the Nepal border, 50 toll plazas, 162 CFS/ICDs. So far more than 32 million containers have been tracked.
