Class A uniforms are the official uniform of Scouting. For Pack 163, that means, at a minimum, the official button-down blue or khaki (Webelos only) shirt with appropriate insignia, Den neckerchief, and pants, shorts or skirts (preferably not sweatpants or sports shorts). Scouts can add the Cub Scout belt or appropriate Den hat if desired. Class A uniforms are typically worn for Pack events and meetings, Den meetings, Popcorn sales, and basically any place that Scouts are representing our Pack and don't expect to get extra messy.
Class B uniforms are a Pack 163 or Cub Scout t-shirt with pants or shorts. Class B uniforms are typically worn when Scouts are expected to be doing an activity that will get them messy, very sweaty, or dirty.
Pack or Den leaders will let Scouts know in advance whether Class A or Class B uniforms are expected for a particular event.
The patches, or insignia, can be placed either on the Class A uniform shirt as directed by the BSA or on the Scout's red patch vest (see question below for more information on vest). The patches that go on the Class A uniform shirt have a specific location. Click HERE to find the Cub Scout Insignia Placement Guide.

The red vest is a felt vest that can be used to showcase insignia (patches) earned that don't have a place on the Class A uniform shirt. These patches can be awarded for various activities such as popcorn sales, attending summer events, or recruiting a new Scout. Our Pack typically has an opportunity for new Scouts to make a vest during one of our Fall Pack meetings.
The metal loops are Adventure Loops earned by Scouts for completing adventure requirements with their Dens or families. These loops can be worn on the official Cub Scout blue webbed belt with the Class A uniform.

For the 2024 Annual Re-charter, the cost for returning Scouts is $165 each. This is for a full year of Scouting activities and includes a $80 National Fee and a $85 Mid-Iowa Council Program Fee.
While this may seem high, it is important to remember two things: 1) this is for a full year of Scouting events, with at least two activities per month, and 2) the Pack does have a scholarship fund for Scouting families who need it. To access assistance, please email our Treasurer directly and she will speak with you about the necessary information (no private financial disclosure is required).
