The Club’s primary season runs in the spring, from late February through early May, with a Fall Ball program offered in the offseason that includes 10 coach-led practices.
No prior lacrosse experience is required. Players are placed on Varsity or Junior Varsity based on skill level, fitness, attitude, and attendance. Tryouts take place during the first week of spring practices, and there are no cuts—our focus is on development and participation.
To be eligible for tryouts, players must submit the full participation fee or have a financial assistance agreement in place, and maintain a current US Lacrosse membership.
Players are responsible for providing basic athletic and lacrosse equipment, including running shoes, cleats, a mouthguard, protective cup, lacrosse stick, gloves, shoulder pads, and helmet.
For new players or families who need support, the Club offers a limited number of loaner sticks and equipment, and scholarships are available to help cover costs. Our goal is to make lacrosse accessible to every player.
Team uniforms—including game jerseys, shorts, and a practice pinnie—are provided as part of the registration fee. Uniforms are collected at the end of the season, washed, and reused for future years.
Team Spirit Gear for players, family and friends, can be purchased through the Team Store
All players must have a current US Lacrosse membership, which costs $35 per year. This membership provides liability and player insurance and is required for participation. Please note that the fee cannot be waived or funded by the Club.
BBLC is fully self-funded through player fees, fundraising, and donations, as we do not receive support from Ballard High School or the school district. The $600 registration fee covers game officials, coaching, league dues, uniforms, and team equipment. Team placement does not affect fees, and refunds are not provided for team assignment.
We want every player to participate, regardless of financial circumstances. Scholarships are available to help cover fees or equipment costs—please contact us at ballardboys.lax@gmail.com.
Reasons Why We ♥️ Lacrosse
Practices are full of energy, and there's nothing like the rush of scoring a goal or winning a game with your team.
Lacrosse is fast, action-packed, and physical—with awesome gear that makes every play feel epic.
Being on the team means making friends, supporting each other, and being part of something bigger than yourself.
The Ballard Boys’ Lacrosse Club acknowledges that we are on the traditional land of the Duwamish People, past and present, and we honor with gratitude the land itself and the Duwamish Tribe. We also recognize and respect the deep Native American roots of the game of lacrosse, which began as stickball—played by Indigenous peoples for training, community, and spiritual purposes—and has evolved into the sport we play today.
