Welcome to another school year! I am your Balfour yearbook sales representative and I'm excited to meet you and share my passion for yearbooks and journalism education with you and your staffs.
I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I was on my high school yearbook staff as a photographer and writer. I participated in journalism UIL where I competed at the state level in headline writing. I attended Texas State University and majored in English with a minor in Mass Communication. My husband and I have been married for 6 years and he coaches Wildcat football and basketball at Gregory-Portland HS. He also teaches history. We have a 4-year-old daughter named Olivia, an infant son named Jackson, two dachshund puppies and a kitten.
I began my teaching career in San Antonio at East Central High School. I taught English 2, Journalism and advised the Hornet Yearbook for two years. I then moved to Ronald Reagan High School, also in San Antonio, where I taught English 1 & 4, Journalism 1, Photojournalism, was the Regalia Yearbook and Recorder News adviser, and coached the highly awarded journalism UIL team for six years. While at Reagan, my student publications, media and journalism programs won several state and national awards, including several TAJE and JEA Best of Shows, CSPA Gold & Silver Medals, and an NSPA Pacemaker. My husband's coaching career brought me to San Angelo and I ended my classroom years at Lee Middle School (SAISD) where I taught 8th grade ELA, Journalism, Reading and Technology Applications. While at Lee, I advised four more yearbooks and produced the morning show broadcast. I have advised and published a total of 12 yearbooks - ALL WITH BALFOUR! I am a member of Texas Association of Journalism Educators and Journalism Education Association.
