New Students
Quad 1 Registration Appointments available Aug 21 -23, 9am - 2pm, Main Office
I am a NEW STUDENT, if:
I am NEW to Secondary School/High School in Ontario (I have not earned ANY high school credits)
I am NEW to the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and do not have a TDSB student number
I have been out of school for 5 years or more and require new assessments.
New Students will be required to write an English assessment (Math and Science optional)

Quad 1: Sept 5, 2024 - Nov 8, 2024

New Students will be required to write an English and Math (Science optional)
Please note: appointments are available each of these days, classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Walk-in's are available daily, only if space permits.
Please bring: Proof of citizenship status and proof of address
Students will have their documents checked, complete their assessments and then choose their courses; the entire process can take up to 3 hours.
Assessments will be given for placement in English/ESL (and possibly Math and Science).
All students will require assessment unless they bring Proof (credit counselling summary, Ontario Student Status sheet or transcript) of their previously earned credits.
NOTE: In order to study at BALC you must be 21 years or older, you will need to either have the required prerequisite courses earned at a Ministry of Education approved Ontario Secondary School or take assessments in English (Math and Science optional) at the time of registration.
You must have the following ready to show the counsellor:
Proof of legal status in Canada
Acceptable forms of identification for Legal Status include:
Canadian Passport or Certificate of Citizenship
Permanent Resident (PR) Card or Record of Landing
Refugee Protection Claimant Document (with study permit)
You may apply for a study permit after you register once we provide you with a letter stating your intention of coming to BALC
Acceptable forms of identification for proof of address include:
Government Issued Photo Id (with proof of address)
Valid Driver's License
Mailed Bill (utility, tax)
Any communication from the Government (ODSP, Ontario Works, Military, Refugee claimant etc.)
Education Documents:
Ontario transcript or credit counselling summary or Ontario Student Status sheet (if you have one)
