Innovation in Railing Planters for Balcony Gardeners

Railing planters have been around for years and have always relied on the top rail. Every once in a while an industry gets disrupted by innovation. This year the wife of an avid gardener who wanted more room for living and more curb appeal has reimagined the railing planter to work on the exterior base of railings. Her goal- to make use of the outer ledge to surround the railing with wrap-around floating gardens.

Plant Traps are aptly named for their ability to “trap” plants on the outer ledge beyond the railing. They represent a whole new gardening tier to explore for balcony and deck gardeners. Whether keeping tomatoes out of reach from deer or using the railing as a trellis to create privacy this new territory is sure to inspire.

Plant Traps are:

  • Tool-free and easy to install

  • Adjust to different railing thicknesses

  • Work with plastic store bought flower baskets, terra-cotta pots and flowerboxes.

  • Are designed for porches, balconies, decks and front stoops

The top of the railing can only hold so much weight. Often the bottom of the railing often has an outer ledge. Plant Traps utilize the outer ledge to support weight and provide additional square footage for container gardens.

To install Plant Traps simply slide them under the railing to extend the outer ledge into a shelf and use the self-staking system to secure plants into place.
