Halleh Balch is an Assistant Professor at Stanford University, where she leads the Balch Laboratory. Balch received her PhD in Physics at UC Berkeley as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow working with Feng Wang and was a NSF Ocean Sciences Postdoctoral Fellow and HHMI Hanna H. Gray Fellow at Stanford working with Jennifer Dionne. She has spent time as a researcher with [X] (Google), at the HHMI Janelia Farm Research Campus, at MIT, and at the Advanced Light Source synchroton and the Molecular Foundry at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. She received her undergraduate degree at Swarthmore in Physics and English Literature. When not in the lab, she plays violin and ultimate frisbee (separately).
