Balancing Act Theatre is a contemporary, Edinburgh-based company dedicated to new writing and bold, human-centred storytelling.

Since our founding, we’ve carved a space for work that unpacks identity, power, and what it means to belong. From intimate studio productions to atmospheric scratch nights, we champion new voices and create work that resonates far beyond the stage.

We’ve brought stories to life across rehearsal rooms, studios and classrooms—wherever there’s a spark to connect artist and audience. Whether we're collaborating with emerging writers or grappling with the beautifully messy realities of modern life, our focus is always on work that is sharp, and deeply felt.

Balancing Act Theatre is led by Benedict Hoesl and David Gardner. We don’t shy away from the personal, the political, or the gloriously in-between.
