PhD Students
Swapnil Kumar Nath
Swapnil completed his M.Sc. in Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry from Tezpur University, Assam. He has completed his Bachelor’s in Chemistry from Sibsagar University, Assam. During his M.Sc., he worked in a synthetic organic chemistry lab where his project involved the synthesis of Azepino[1,2-a] indoles via Intramolecular Alkyne Aldehyde Metathesis Reaction. In April 2024, he joined BALAB at IIT Mandi as a PhD student. His areas of interest lie in the domain of synthesis of supramolecular organic materials. In his spare time, he adores taking care of domestic animals, working out, reading novels, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Vivek
Vivek completed his M.S. Pharm in Medicinal Chemistry from NIPER Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, where he worked on Alzheimer’s disease research. During his postgraduate studies, he focused on the design and synthesis of anti-Alzheimer’s drug-like molecules aimed at developing potential therapeutic candidates for effective treatment. Alongside this, he also explored the development of fluorescent molecular probes for sensing and detection of Alzheimer’s disease-related targets. In January 2026, he joined BALAB at IIT Mandi as a PhD student. His area of interest lies in the domain of synthesis of Supramolecular Organic Material and studies their applications. Beyond academics, he enjoys playing badminton, writing and reciting poetry, and actively participating in skits.
Virendra Patel
Virendra completed his M.Sc. in Chemistry from IIT Mandi and subsequently qualified the CSIR-NET JRF. He earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, in 2024. During his M.Sc., he worked in this lab, where his research focused on the design and synthesis of molecular materials for molecular solar thermal energy storage (MOST) applications. In August 2026, he joined IIT Mandi as a PhD student. His current research interests lie in supramolecular materials, with a focus on the design and synthesis of organic molecular systems and their self-assembly into functional architectures. Through his doctoral research, he aims to explore the structural and functional properties of these materials for potential applications. He aspires to build a successful career as a researcher in Organic Chemistry. Beyond academics, he enjoys playing cricket in his free time.
Ajay Kumar Yadav
Ajay completed his Postgraduate degree in Chemistry, specializing in Organic Chemistry, from Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur. He also earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the same university. His academic training has given him a strong foundation in organic synthesis, molecular design, and the development of functional organic materials. In August 2026, he joined BALAB at IIT Mandi as a PhD student. His research interests focus on the synthesis of supramolecular organic materials and understanding their structural and functional properties for potential applications. Beyond academics, he enjoys playing football, cricket, listening to music, travelling, and exploring new places.
Pooja Bhatia
Pooja completed her postgraduate degree in Chemistry, with a specialization in Organic Chemistry from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. She earned her undergraduate degree from Post Graduate Degree College, Dharamshala, which is also affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. In August 2026, she joined BALAB at IIT Mandi as a PhD student. Her research focuses on the design and synthesis of supramolecular organic materials and the resulting functional properties of these materials. Beyond academics, she enjoys dancing, listening to music, and taking walks to explore new and random places.

Dr. Mahima Rabari
Dr. Mahima Rabari completed her PhD in Chemistry, from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat. She completed her M.Sc. in Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry and B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry from the same university. During her PhD, she worked in a synthetic organic chemistry lab where she was involved in the synthesis, characterization and study of liquid crystalline compounds and their applications. In December 2025, she joined BALAB at IIT Mandi as a National Postdoctoral Fellow (ANRF-NPDF). Her areas of interest lie in the domain of liquid crystals.

Kamlesh completed her B.Sc. hons in Chemistry from Ramjas College, university of Delhi in 2024 and joined IIT mandi in 2024 where she is currently working on Supramolecular Materials. In her free time she likes to play Volleyball. Kamlesh’s aim is to become a Researcher in Organic Chemistry.
