My Reason is You
My Reason is You
I spent seven years in foster care. I was adopted, but the home I entered wasn’t safe—just another place where I was hurt. Like so many others in the system, I moved through houses that promised stability but delivered pain. What I needed wasn’t just shelter. I needed comfort. I needed something that could quiet the chaos inside me. I wish I had a cookie. Not just any cookie—but one that felt like a hug, one that could calm my nervous system when everything else was screaming.
Baking for the Brain is the place I needed back then. It’s the place I still need now.
I’m a college student studying neuroscience, trying to understand the brain that carried me through all of it. I’m completely on my own—no parents, no safety net, no one to call when things fall apart. And things do fall apart. The stress is real. The loneliness is real. But so is the power of something warm, something sweet, something made with intention.
This bakery is my way of creating safety—for myself, and for anyone who’s ever felt like they didn’t belong. Every cookie is crafted to soothe, to ground, to offer a moment of peace. It’s not just dessert. It’s emotional recovery. It’s a ritual of care. It’s proof that something good can come from the hardest parts of life.
If you’ve ever needed comfort and didn’t know where to find it—this is for you.
