Your childโs regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to his/her success.
Most kindergarten learning activities are group oriented and involve interaction with classmates. Therefore, it is hard to make up work at home.
Please view school as a priority and see that your child attends everyday, except in cases of illness or emergency. Your child may enter the classroom between 8:45 and 9:10. Your child will be counted tardy if he/she is not in the classroom when the tardy bell rings at 9:10. Please make sure your child is here on time.
Whenever possible, please let me know if a student will be absent ahead of time.
The best way that we will communicate is using an app called Talking Points. I will use this application to text class announcements and personal messages. If you have information you need to share with me please do not send in a handwritten note with your student. These often get lost.
You can call the school, text me using Talking Points or email me at llwright@wcpss.net.
You can expect a yellow Tuesday folder. This folder contains information from school leadership, such as messages from the PTA and information about school wide events. This is where we will send home any student work and assessments for you to see how they are professing!
After your child has put in a long day at school, it is important for your child to have time to be a kid! I encourage you to allow your child to participate in activities, build relationships, and just play!
It is my hope that time at home with families can be relaxing and not spent stressing to get homework done!
That said, please take time to read with your child every day. This could be reading aloud to your scholar or listening to them read to you.
Students will have the opportunity to chat with their peers about the books they read at home during our classroom morning meeting.
Please note: For any transportation changes or urgent matters please call the office as I don't have the opportunity to read e-mail throughout the day. I check e-mail before and after school each day.
