I confirm that the attached assessment is all my own work and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself and sources have been appropriately referenced.
Project Starting Point
What aspects of previous projects have you enjoyed?
I have enjoyed creating my music video and the tv shows because of the visual aspect of them when creating my music video i liked getting good shots and having my ideas come to life and for the tv shows it was fun helping create the shows doing the cameras and lighting.
What areas/ job roles did you enjoy working in?
I liked having a job role as a cameraman as it let me think about the show more and how is coming together and I seeing my shots being in the show
What skills did you enjoy developing?
The skills I developed, was taking initiative where I went around the studio helping others and given my ideas to the directors’ of the many shows. I enjoyed it as I liked helping others and liked solving problems and I also liked when people talked to me about some things that I could do differently as it gave me a new perspective and it also made the show look better.
What would you like to do in the future?
In the future I would like to be a camera man as I like filming and seeing my footage in someone in a movie looks cool and I am always open to new ideas
Could your FMP idea help you on that path?
For my FMP I might do an Advert this might help me on the path on becoming a camera man if I use unique techniques people will see and want to hire me.
What skills would you like to develop?
What do you think your strengths are? i.e. directing, editing, audio etc?
I think my strengths are my camera work and editing as with my editing if i have an idea
Are there any aspects of TV and film you would like to experiment with or develop further?
With my Spider Diagram I put many different ideas, Music video, Tv show and Advert and I chose advert
For my mood board I wanted to gain inspiration of how I should advertise the camera and the feel I wanted during the advert, as I wanted an action scene I put other scenes in the mood board as well as the colours I wanted
In my storyboard I had some vision of what to do for my advert and wanted to have a poorly done action scene and the cameraman gaining the advertised camera and the action scene becoming better.
From Darren's PowerPoint there was multiple different research methods one, Quantitative Research and the second Qualitative Research.
Quantitative Research - defined as a way of gathering a lot of research that deals with data that are numerical or that can be converted into numbers, percentages, graphs etc. The basic methods used to investigate numerical data are called ‘statistics’.
Qualitative Research - involves collecting and analysing non-numerical data (e.g., written text, video, or audio) to understand concepts, opinions, or experiences. It can be used to gather in-depth insights into a problem or generate new ideas for research
this will help my FMP
Advertisement - Camera - kids using a phone to record bad quality and get giving a high quality camera and there video comes out much better quality
the target audience will be teenagers as they will be the ones recording and experimenting and might later go into the film industry because of it.
In todays lesson we were allowed to use and experiment with Reflectors
In this picture we went to a shadowy area and reflected light into the area using the gold foil caused there to be a golden glow on otis removing the shadows and giving him a glow
In this photo we used a big curved reflector and pointed a light at it as the refector was below them this caused the light to make there faces have little to none shadows making there face clear
this picture has a white background, because of that it highlights the shadow and where the light is coming from.
This picture was taken with a warm light giving an orange glow on us giving an effect of a sunset which can be useful for flims which can record at sunset.
Split screens are used to convey many different meanings, like shock between separate characters or People talking over long distances and shows characters expressions
"In film and video production, split screen is the visible division of the screen, traditionally in half, but also in several simultaneous images, rupturing the illusion that the screen's frame is a seamless view of reality, similar to that of the human eye." (source at end)
This shows that split screens can disrupt the flow of the movie taking away emerson and can sometimes ruin the movie.
In my music video I wanted to have a grain in the begging making the footage look bad and giving a resion to get the camera im advertising
I decided to have the action scene at the start of the ad look like a film done by kids with little to no budget and then the camera is advertised and then the footage becomes clearer and higher quality.
In the middle of the video I decided to have the 'advert' showing of the 'new' Camera that would change how young people made films i have put it in the middle so i can compare and show how 'movies' look without this Camera making the marketing better as it gives the impression the Camera is amazing quality making more people want it.
For the ending part of the advertisement I have made the footage a higher clarity making it more colourful and added a vignette to make it more movie like making it look like it had a higher buget.
This is my Camera Ad
In this form multiple people answered my questions and some off the responses showed that I can improve, like my question "What could i do to improve the video"
the responses show that the begging and ending could be improved by making the sequence longer and having more "range of shots during action scenes", is one of the responses i got and it shows that i should have a many different shots during actions scenes, This is something that I will do in other videos that I make
In my advert at the start I wanted the footage to be grainy and look out of focus and look poorly done but uploading the video to YouTube had fixed the issues I caused so it didn't look like i wanted it to so I think if i wanted to do this again I would use a bad camera instead of doing it in post.
I also think that I should of recorded some more of the 'student film" giving an end to the film showing the differance between the start and the end.
"Presenting the camera better on the spin deck as there is duct on the screen" This is one of the Resposes to my form an I think i should of done this as it would of make the film look better and i should of filmed in another location changing the feel of the film making it completely different giving it a newer and cleaner look giving it a more professoinal look.
My original intentions of what i was going to make was a music video but soon after i switched over too an advert as i think that my ad for my tv show could of been better so i decided to make another.
For my research i watched advertisement of cameras and saw they compaired to other cameras a lot showing the quality of there camera, so i wanted to do something simualar to that in my advert as it made it so people wanted the camera more.
How i kept my audances attieon is with dramatic music and constant action starting the video with a tense moment engaing the audance for the advert
For my audio i used dramatic music to fit the scene and some proffectional music to fit the advert part midway through I chose the audio because it fit the tense dramatic moment and the proffectioal music because it made the camera look better
For some of the advert im speaking to explain and push the product using my own voice but I could of got someone else to do it more profesonally as it might of attrated more people to the product
