Functional Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Laboratory
Department of Bioscience & Engineering
Welcome to the Functional Biopolymers and Tissue Engineering Laboratory, a cutting-edge research facility advancing the fields of bioinspired materials, 3-D bioprinting, tissue engineering, organ-on-a-chip technology, and the exploration of small molecules from extremophiles. Our lab is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of nano bioengineering, striving to unravel nature's intricate design principles and harness them to create innovative solutions for biomedical applications. Among our flagship research endeavors is 3-D bioprinting, a groundbreaking technique that allows us to fabricate intricate tissue constructs layer by layer. By replicating the natural architecture of tissues and organs, we aim to overcome the challenges of transplantation and contribute to personalized medicine.
Our research also focuses on nano- and micro-particle interactions in plants, particularly examining the effects of micro- and nanoplastics and nanotoxicology. This work aims to enhance agricultural productivity and develop sustainable solutions for environmental health.
Joining us: Motivated students can write to me for internships, doctoral programs and postdoctoral programs.
Requirements: GATE/NET is mandatory for Institute fellowship offered by NIT Calicut.
Candidates holding CSIR-JRF/ICAR-JRF/DBT-JRF qualifications have the opportunity to join our lab directly through a prior interview and discussion process. We value the expertise and knowledge these candidates bring from their respective prestigious fellowships and believe that their experience aligns well with our lab's research focus.
