Industry
I am a tech leader and executive in engineering and AI research and development, with a track record of incubating transformative new technologies and experiences from early-stage research to product shipment across multiple industries, including autonomous vehicles, smart cities, location-based technologies, HD mapping, ADAS, robotics, and healthcare. I drive innovation and growth through the fusion of engineering and AI, facilitating the development and deployment of large-scale AI-enabled products leveraging vast volumes of crowd-sourced data, including images, videos, LiDAR, aerial imagery, satellite data, and GPS information. I have spearheaded the creation of platforms that bridge cloud and edge computing, enabling the seamless integration of cloud-trained models into real-world hardware units (the mass deployment of AI products on low-powered embedded devices). Additionally, I have led the development of advanced perception stacks for autonomous driving units and directed the creation of diverse products, including mobility solutions, smart parking systems, smart cockpits, offline server-based navigation solutions, and online 3D mobile mapping.
The future of automation, autonomous driving, and robotics will demand smarter digital twins and maps of the world. Therefore, I contribute strategically and technically to the development of end-to-end software-hardware systems that can enable the future of smart mobility, smart cities, connected vehicles, and more.
Academia
I am also an AI Adjunct professor in the department of mathematics and computer science at the Eindhoven University of Technology.
I direct the NeurAI Lab, which develops Neuro-Inspired AI models capable of learning efficiently from multiple tasks. The primary goal of the lab is to conduct fundamental research in deep learning, inspired by how the brain works and learns. Our research aims to develop next-generation AI systems that bring us closer to AGI. We focus on Continual Learning, Multi-Task Learning, Self-Supervised Learning, advanced Perception and Computer Vision, Knowledge Distillation, efficient transformers, TinyML, among other areas.
We frequently publish at NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, AAAI, ICRA, CVPR, ICCV, and IROS, among others.
