Hi, I’m May, the name lover behind Bag of Names. I live in New Zealand with my two boys, Lu and Monty, whose names were chosen with a mix of instinct, meaning and a little bit of overthinking!
Bag of Names began from my love of words and the way a name can hold a story. I believe naming your baby should feel calm, creative and personal, not stressful or rushed.
I'm so excited and honored to join you and be part of your naming journey!
How does it work?

I know that choosing the perfect name for your baby is a big, exciting decision, and I’m here to make the process a little easier (and a lot more fun!). Here’s how it works:
Select your package: To get started, simply choose from the different packages below. This way I know what kind of help you are after and can deliver a personalized, thoughtful service as we find the perfect name for your baby.
Payment: After selecting your package, you will be directed to a screen asking for payment. Please note that payment is in USD.
I’ll Reach Out to You: Once I’ve received your payment I’ll reach out via email (or instagram dm) to touch base on specific next steps, as this varies between packages. I’ll let you know when you can expect to receive your list of name suggestions, so you’ll always know where things stand.
Three week turnaround: Your name list/video will be made available to you 3 weeks from purchase date at the latest. Depending on demand and my own schedule, this could be as soon as by the end of the weekend.

Without listing any names that you like, you submit your "vibe" via a form asking for music, fashion, colours, or anything else that feels like you. You will then receive a surprise list of 10-12 names that I feel fits your vibe.

Questionnaire on your naming style and preferences, followed by a 10-15 minute custom video with 15-20 new name ideas with their meanings

You will then be sent a custom video with 30+ new name ideas with their meanings, nicknames, sibling compatibility, popularity, pronunication guidance, raising potential teasing concerns, and middle names.

I was lucky enough to have a consult with May and gave her some fairly picky and tricky things to workaround 🙃 and I can honestly say she blew my mind! She exceeded all my expectations and gave me so many options I’d never have been able to think up on my own! She gave me over 60 different ideas all linking to my long list of stipulations and all had perfect reasons as to why she’d picked them.
