Youth Skills Summit

For how long do we have to wake up to newspaper headlines, such as, ‘More graduates join jobless queues’?

When will the time come, when lack of a proper skill set will not cause a high unemployment rate? Here we are, stuck in the dilemma of blaming it on quality education, and core values. To address this problem, Torun Digital initiated an attempt to accord with the apprehension about the current labor market. In addition to identifying the right set of skills required, they brought leaders from across the nation to connect them with the youth. The session consisted of professionals from corporate fields, entertainment sectors, and a lot of other different areas. For the first time in Bangladesh, SBK Tech Ventures presents, Bangladesh Youth Skills Summit 2019, in association with IPDC Finance, Faraaz Hossain Foundation, and United International University was held. This event was for undergraduate students from any university in Bangladesh.

Here are some glimpse of the sessions:

Here are some of the wonderful things I've learnt!

Practical Psychology Session

1. How to overcome fear?

- Shifting focus (what am I going to gain?)

- Fear of working hard (knowing that challenges will increase knowledge)

- Fear of outcome pain (you'll have to visualize and attract yourself)

2. What controls and determines the quality of our lives? (Ans: Emotions)

The source of all emotions is a Constellation of three forces:

Force #1: A pattern of psychology (how you use your physical body such as breath, posture, movements)

Force #2: A pattern of focus (whatever you focus on, you will feel)

Force #3: Pattern of language/meaning (As soon as we put words to an experience, it changes the meaning we experience)

3. Why do we do what we do?

-- Six human needs (primal: connection, significance, certainty & variety; spiritual: growth & contribution)
